Message from a middle school in District 1 sent to parents on the morning of April 18 about a scam related to early grade admissions
Accordingly, many primary and secondary schools in District 1, District 4, and District 8 (HCMC) have issued notices, asking parents to be vigilant about scams related to early-level enrollment.
The announcement stated: "Recently, there have been people impersonating school administrators in the area. They have called parents of students with the reason of "requesting confirmation of level 2 identification codes for students" to serve the work of early school enrollment.
These subjects ask parents to provide personal information through strange links, leading to the hijacking of bank accounts, e-wallets and causing financial losses.
Therefore, to protect the rights of students and their families, the school would like to inform parents as follows: All information related to the admission process will be announced through the school's official channels such as the website, messages from homeroom teachers or admission officers.
The school absolutely does not ask parents to provide personal information via calls or links of unknown origin.
Parents need to be vigilant, do not provide personal information, bank accounts or perform any operations following instructions from unclear calls or messages, to avoid being scammed.
It is known that Ho Chi Minh City is entering the first-level enrollment period for the 2025-2026 school year. Parents are eager to secure a place for their children, so scammers are taking advantage of this and setting traps.
"In the face of new problems, scammers always have sophisticated methods. During this year's first-grade admission season, with Ho Chi Minh City using current residence information on VNeID of students' parents, parents need to pay close attention and be vigilant to avoid being taken advantage of and scammed by bad guys.
For all necessary procedures related to primary school admission, parents need to contact their children's homeroom teachers or school principals directly," an official from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training advised.
In early March 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also issued a warning to parents about tuition refund scams, ahead of the tuition exemption policy for students from kindergarten to high school in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year.
