- Candidates' wishes are arranged in order of priority from 1 to 3, in which students are not allowed to choose the same thing between regions.

The Department of Education and Training encourages students who have won national and international sports awards and graduated from junior high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City to register for direct admission to 3 high schools: Gifted in Sports; Nguyen Thi Dinh Gifted in Sports and Physical Education and Binh Chanh Gifted in Sports to continue developing their talents and enjoy the benefits applied to athletes during training if they compete for the City team.
The timeline for direct admission of candidates to public grade 10 is as follows:
Before May 31, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the list of candidates eligible for direct admission.
- Based on the direct admission application, wishes and valid residence information of the candidate (via VNeID or residence confirmation paper), the direct admission council allocates students to appropriate public high schools. The council uses a digital map to assess the distance from the parents' place of residence/work, combined with learning ability, convenience of travel, order of wishes and the school's ability to accept. The allocation may be outside the initial wishes to balance between optimal learning conditions for students and the actual ability to accept of the units.
The Department of Education and Training also noted that high schools have the right to refuse to accept candidates if they discover that their admission documents are incorrect compared to regulations or if the candidates do not meet the requirements for direct admission. The Head of the Department of Education and Training and the principal of the secondary school where the student completes the 9th grade program are responsible to the Department of Education and Training for the accuracy of the documents and meeting the requirements for direct admission. Students who do not submit their admission documents within the prescribed time limit to schools that accept direct admission or confirm in other forms will be considered to have refused the right to direct admission and will not be allowed to submit additional documents later.
