Products supplied to a hospital by the company producing fake milk under investigation
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has just issued a plan to inspect law enforcement in the field of food safety, focusing on the topic of milk.
The peak inspection period from now until May 30 will focus on processed milk, nutritional products, food supplements, medical nutritional foods and foods for special diets...
The inspection contents include: legal documents, product declaration records, facility hygiene conditions, equipment, personnel, etc. In particular, the delegation will focus on inspecting contents related to advertising - a hot field of violations recently.
During the inspection, the delegation will take samples of products showing signs of violations in food quality and safety, and send food samples for testing at designated testing facilities to serve state management of food safety.
Sampling and testing criteria are decided by the head of the inspection team based on the actual situation of food safety risks at the inspected location.
"The goal of this inspection is to assess the current state of compliance with food safety laws at production and business establishments; promptly detect, prevent, and handle violations, contributing to limiting food safety incidents and protecting people's health," the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety emphasized.
Besides inspection activities, the department is also implementing many synchronous solutions to prevent poor quality food.
Firstly, review and advise on perfecting legal regulations related to food quality control and traceability.
Second, strengthen communication, raise awareness and responsibility of production and business establishments, and help consumers recognize and choose safe food.
Third, encourage people to report signs of violations through the hotline, to increase community supervision.
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety calls for the community's support in ensuring food safety for the health and lives of individuals, families, and society.
Ho Chi Minh City has 296,000 products declared by businesses and self-declared.
Talking to Tuoi Tre Online about the recent issue of fake milk that has caused public confusion, Ms. Pham Khanh Phong Lan - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety - said that the current product declaration process is mainly based on paper documents, meaning that businesses submit documents committing that their products meet standards.
However, whether the actual production is as committed and declared by the enterprise or not depends almost entirely on the post-inspection work that follows.
According to statistics, Ho Chi Minh City has about 296,000 products declared by businesses and self-declared.
