On the afternoon of December 5, the Central Steering Committee and the Ministry of National Defense had a working session with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, said that the parade will take place on the morning of April 30, 2025 on Le Duan Street, District 1.

The program includes: 21 cannon salutes to the National Anthem; Air Force salute; Parade of model cars: National emblem, Party flag, National flag, portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, symbol of 50 years of Southern Liberation Day; Parade of the Army, Militia, Police and parade of the masses.
Mr. Nghia suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee closely coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense in designing and constructing model cars; organizing training, preliminary and final rehearsals; ensuring security and safety at the stage area and parade route.
Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the city has agreed on the draft plan for organizing the parade with the Ministry of National Defense. It is expected that more than 13,000 people will participate with 35 armed forces and 11 mass groups. The city also received, edited and completed the comments to submit to the Central Steering Committee for approval.
Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize a thematic exhibition on Southern Liberation Day. Museums in the city have also prepared many exhibition programs to spread historical significance to the people.
In addition, the city is making sculptures of President Ho Chi Minh through historical periods, organizing a handover ceremony and displaying them at the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City branch. The exhibition "President Ho Chi Minh and the cause of fighting to liberate the South and unify the country" is expected to attract the attention of domestic and foreign visitors.
The creative campaign with the theme “HCMC - 50 years of proud heroic epic” has attracted more than 650 works in fields such as music, cinema, reformed opera, painting, photography, etc. The selection board is actively selecting quality works to promote from the end of 2024.
In particular, the city organized a tour of the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro train for 200 artists, creating new inspiration for creation associated with the image of the modern city. This activity was highly appreciated and the results will be announced at the end of December 2024.
Ho Chi Minh City will closely coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense and related units to prepare all aspects of the celebration, from firing fireworks, installing sound, lighting, and camera systems, to organizing live television. LED screen systems at public places will also serve people to watch the event.
