On the morning of December 19, at the "Meeting Program between Ho Chi Minh City Leaders and Singaporean Enterprises in 2023" organized by the City's Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in coordination with the Singaporean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Kho Ngee Seng Roy, Singaporean Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, said that Singaporean enterprises investing in Ho Chi Minh City are facing many difficulties, including difficulties due to the city's unsynchronized infrastructure.
According to Mr. Kho Ngee Seng Roy, infrastructure development including roads, urban railway networks, and seaports greatly affects the delivery of goods, travel, and the ability to attract capital in Ho Chi Minh City.
Responding to comments from Singaporean enterprises, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, informed that the city is coordinating with agencies to deploy and develop transport infrastructure projects, not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also connecting with other localities.
Specifically, the city is implementing belt roads and inter-regional expressways such as Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4, Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway; expanding Tan Son Nhat International Airport; Ho Chi Minh City urban railway routes, railway routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces...
In addition, the city is solving traffic congestion on the roads connecting to Cat Lai port, focusing on investing in construction projects, upgrading and expanding roads and intersections such as: My Thuy intersection, Dong Van Cong street, Ring Road 2.
Regarding the development of the urban railway system, Mr. Phan Van Mai said that there is a plan to build 220km of urban railway, but currently only about 20km has been completed.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City also hopes that through Singaporean enterprises, the Consul General can promote the expansion of government relations with Singaporean enterprises and the Government ; provide advice to help the city develop more facilities and a good environment for production and business enterprises in general.
Mr. Vo Khanh Hung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, emphasized that the city carries out infrastructure construction every year to facilitate the development of strategic investment projects and serve people's travel.
According to Mr. Hung, in 2022, Ho Chi Minh City maintained 1,500km of roads, 650 bridges, 18 road tunnels, 883 cameras, 1,200 traffic lights, 42 small and medium-sized projects to meet regular needs, which demonstrates determination in management.
"We will check the areas causing congestion and make improvements, especially at Tan Son Nhat airport, Cat Lai port, and Truong Tho port in Ho Chi Minh City. Some peak hours still have congestion due to the strong population growth and large traffic volume in Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Hung.
