(HTV) - This afternoon, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Command solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force Tradition Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025).
Attending the event were Permanent Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Ngoc Hai and Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Huynh Thanh Nhan.
The meeting is an opportunity to review the heroic tradition of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force; at the same time, express deep feelings and gratitude for the dedication and sacrifice of generations of Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Forces in general and the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces in particular, who have made important contributions to, together with other forces and the City's People, maintaining political security, social order and safety, protecting the Party, the State, the People and the Socialist regime; and successfully implementing the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Overview of the meeting
Along with the socio -economic development of the City and the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, the Militia and Self-Defense Force has been increasingly directed and built by the Party Committees, authorities at all levels of the City and leaders of agencies and enterprises with increasing urgency. Up to now, the total number of Militia and Self-Defense Forces in the whole city has reached 1.43% of the population. The political quality of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces has been focused on, in which the percentage of Party members has reached 28.95%, continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces' activities, building a Militia and Self-Defense Force worthy of being the "Iron Wall of the Fatherland" as instructed by President Ho Chi Minh.
On this occasion, the Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City High Command awarded certificates of merit to individuals and units that have contributed to the development of the Militia and Self-Defense Force in the city in recent times.
