On the afternoon of April 11, speaking at a training session on software for managing extra classes, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, chief of office of the Department of Education and Training, said: The Department of Education and Training is collecting opinions on conditions for organizing extra classes such as facilities, fire prevention and fighting conditions, security and order, etc. In particular, there is a condition that extra classes will not be allowed to operate after 8:00 p.m. to ensure the health of students.
Mr. Minh said: "Ho Chi Minh City is a large city, traffic jams often occur during rush hour. Students leave school at 4-5pm. After that, they need to have enough time to travel home, eat, and then go to the tutoring center if needed. All of these activities should end before 8pm, which is appropriate.
Currently, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City have implemented two sessions per day. Thus, students are at school all day. If they have extra classes, they should do so in moderation to ensure their health. It is reasonable for extra classes to end before 8 p.m. so that students have time with their families," Mr. Minh analyzed.
10,000 tutoring centers
It is known that Ho Chi Minh City currently has about 10,000 tutoring centers.
On April 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also launched a portal for managing tutoring. The users of this portal are tutoring centers, schools, parents, and students. By the end of April 2025, tutoring centers must publicly disclose the number of students, tuition fees, subjects, and teaching time on this portal.
