Ho Chi Minh City welcomes 521,000 visitors to Cu Chi Tunnels

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao - Head of Tourism Resource Development Planning Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), travel agencies have announced and exploited many tours associated with cultural and historical relics such as tours to experience Cu Chi tunnels, Independence Palace, associated with Saigon Special Forces... The tours have received quite good response from tourists, especially many young tourists and tourists from many localities across the country.

According to statistics from the Department of Tourism, from January 1 to April 15, the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site welcomed 521,000 visitors, of which 194,650 were domestic visitors and 325,438 were international visitors. The number of domestic visitors increased by 26% and international visitors increased by 20% compared to the same period last year. Currently, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, along with the heat from the movie "Tunnels: Sun in the Dark" will encourage many tourists to visit the Tunnels to visit and learn about history.

Ms. Thao emphasized that 2025 is an important year for the tourism industry in promoting and developing products and attracting visitors to Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, activities related to April 30 have 4 routes including developing products associated with tourism, cultural, religious and spiritual tourism tours, 50-day tourism stimulus, Ho Chi Minh City thanks you program and communication campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Kiet - Head of the Art Department of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City added that at this time, people across the country are very interested in activities on the occasion of April 30. The Department also recorded a sharp increase in the number of visitors to museums in the city. According to statistics, from March 15 to April 15, museums under the management of the Department received over 200,000 visitors and are expected to continue to increase in the coming time.
