Ho Chi Minh City promotes propaganda for promoting learning and talent

On the morning of October 9, the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee coordinated with the Party Committee of the Department of Education and Training, the Party Committee of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, the Standing Committee of the City's Association for Promotion of Education, the City Youth Union, the Party Committee of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Party Committee of the University and College Block to organize a seminar on "Work to promote learning, encourage talents, build a learning society, and a learning city in Ho Chi Minh City".

The seminar attracted experts to give their opinions.

MSc. Nguyen Huy Can, Chairman of the City's Association for Promotion of Education, commented that the city's work of promoting education and talents in recent years has received much attention from the City Party Committee, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Department of Education and Training and the system of associations for promotion of education at all levels.

According to Master Can, 71 presentations from party committees at all levels, authorities, education promotion association systems from grassroots to city level, party committees at higher levels, educational institutions, experts, scientists... showed many different perspectives. Many difficulties, advantages and solutions were presented at the discussion.

The work of promoting learning and talent in Ho Chi Minh City in recent years has been focused on.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Hai, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Propaganda Department of Thu Duc City Party Committee, said that in recent years, investment in education and socio-cultural institutions has been a top priority for the locality.

In 2023, 34/34 wards met the national standard for level 2 literacy, Thu Duc city continued to be recognized as level 2 literacy. Through inspection and evaluation, the recognition of learning families reached 65.04%; learning clans reached 72.73% and learning communities reached 85.08%.

In Cu Chi district, the work of encouraging learning and talent does not stop at awarding scholarships, but the scholarship recipients return to support and inspire the next generation.

"The district is building a model of a "spiritual parents" club, attracting adults to sponsor, care for, and encourage poor, disadvantaged, and orphaned students, so that they have faith and motivation to continue going to school," said Ms. Le Thi Thuy Trang, Chairwoman of the Cu Chi District Association for the Promotion of Education.

Dr. Le Hong Son suggested that departments, branches and organizations promote communication work in promoting learning and talent, building an effective learning society.

Dr. Le Hong Son, member of the City Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department, said that Ho Chi Minh City has been recognized as a member of the Global Learning Cities Network of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This is a very important turning point for the work of education to promote learning and talent in the area.

According to Dr. Son, for the vocational education system, the streaming work is not effective. Therefore, students who fail the secondary school entrance exam do not have the right orientation.

"In the coming time, communication work in promoting learning and talent needs to be promoted more. All departments of the Propaganda Department are responsible for increasing information" - Dr. Son emphasized.
