Ho Chi Minh City will officially launch Shopping Season 2024, with the theme "City sale", from August 30 to September 8.
This program will take place in key districts such as District 1, District 7 and District 11, promising to bring consumers unprecedented discounts from famous domestic and foreign brands.
In the context of the economy facing many difficulties, "City sale" is identified as an important activity to stimulate consumer demand, promote retail and service revenue, and at the same time connect businesses with consumers, giving them the opportunity to access genuine branded goods with high quality and the most competitive prices.
Mr. Le Huynh Minh Tu - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City - emphasized that this program not only aims to promote domestic consumption but also aims to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Ho Chi Minh City for sightseeing and shopping.
Unlike previous years, "City sale" 2024 takes a bold step by simultaneously organizing three major events at key commercial centers of the city, including: Union Square in District 1, SC VivoCity in District 7, and the Southern Regional Science & Technology Information Center in District 11.
More than 500 prestigious brands from around the world and Vietnam have committed to participating in the campaign. Notably, the retail group ACFC, with the participation of 17 famous brands such as Banana Republic, Calvin Klein...
There are also many international brands that are loved in Vietnam such as Gucci, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Lacoste, Adidas, Puma, L'Oreal, and Yves Rocher.
A representative of the European Fashion and Cosmetics Company (ACFC) said that the 17 brands selected by the company for the program have high promotion levels and a variety of products. It is estimated that the company has prepared 122,000 products for this year's sale season.
"Some product groups are still new, brands only accept small discounts, but to increase the attractiveness of the program, we boldly reduce more, so this year's discount could be very impressive," said the business.
Discounts, vouchers and cashless shopping incentives
The highlight of the program is not only the discounts of up to 80% on millions of high-end products in many categories such as fashion, cosmetics, perfumes, watches, shoes, but also the cashback vouchers worth billions of VND that major brands bring to customers, along with thousands of attractive gifts.
According to Ms. Duong Thi Thuy - representative of Vstyle Company, the unit participating in this program, giving vouchers will encourage shoppers to come back and boldly choose many different product lines.
Besides fashion, items with deep discounts are perfumes and cosmetics. These items do not go out of fashion and have a long shelf life but are still promoted to stimulate purchasing power.
"The program taking place right at the beginning of the new school year will make many families hesitate, so the organizers must make more efforts to reduce the price attractively," Ms. Thuy informed.
Mr. Huynh Minh Tu said that an indispensable message of this year's program is to respond to the policy of cashless shopping.
The Department of Industry and Trade has cooperated with payment gateways to provide additional discount vouchers of VND50,000, VND100,000 and VND200,000. At the same time, the transportation sponsor, Green SM, will also support customers when traveling to the three locations of this event.
The domestic market is one of the pillars of the economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed and issued Directive No. 29 dated August 27, 2024 on stimulating consumption, supporting production, business and developing the domestic market.
The Prime Minister has asked ministries and sectors to come up with solutions to stimulate consumption, support production, business, and develop the domestic market. Stimulating domestic consumption will be an important key to promoting economic growth.
Request to review and have policies to support domestic enterprises to participate in the supply chain of supporting industrial products of foreign-invested manufacturing and exporting enterprises in Vietnam.
Implement regional connectivity solutions to reduce transportation costs, facilitate the circulation of goods between regions; support businesses to shift investment to regions with competitive advantages in factors such as production and business premises, abundant labor resources and cheap labor costs to reduce production costs.
Data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that in the first half of the year, total domestic retail sales of goods and services increased by only 8.6% compared to the same period last year. Excluding price increases, total retail sales of goods and services in the first six months of this year increased by only 5.7%.
