Hai Phong City: Many new communes and wards have names associated with places, history, and culture.

On the afternoon of April 22, after grasping public opinion, some localities in Hai Phong city, such as Vinh Bao, Tien Lang, Kien Thuy districts... changed the proposed name plan of commune-level administrative units after the rearrangement.

Accordingly, localities will name communes that bear the cultural and historical imprints of the locality instead of renaming districts and attaching them to serial numbers as originally planned.

According to the new plan proposed by the localities, the new commune-level administrative units in Vinh Bao district (Hai Phong city) will be named: Vinh Am commune, Vinh Hai commune, Nguyen Binh Khiem commune, Vinh Bao commune, Vinh Hoa commune, Vinh Thinh commune, Vinh Thuan commune.

Tien Lang District (Hai Phong City) will have the following administrative units, including: Quyet Thang Commune, Tien Lang, Tan Minh, Tien Minh, Chan Hung, Hung Thang... The names of old villages and communes will be selected to name the villages and residential areas after the rearrangement.

Previously, according to the project to arrange commune-level administrative units of Hai Phong City sent to voters for opinions, the new administrative units were expected to be named after districts, towns, and cities with serial numbers attached.

According to the proposed plan for consultation, Hai Phong City will reorganize 167 commune-level administrative units to establish 50 grassroots units (including 24 wards, 24 communes and 2 special zones), reducing 117 commune-level administrative units (70.05% of the city's current commune-level administrative units). Of which, all 50/50 new grassroots units (including 2 special zones) ensure the arrangement principles according to Central regulations (39 grassroots units meet both standards on natural area and population size; 11 grassroots units are formed from 3 or more commune-level administrative units).
