On February 8, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on the international community to unite efforts for peace, justice and sustainability, but in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

The above call was made by Mr. Guterres in a speech at a press conference on priorities in 2024 at the UN headquarters in New York, USA.
“The priorities for this year and beyond... are a long and detailed agenda – but the diverse challenges are connected by a common thread. Peace,” the Secretary-General said, according to Xinhua .
According to the head of the UN secretariat, the need for peace exists in all aspects because peace is the binding thread, but the world "is constantly facing a difficult knot (situation)".
Mr. Guterres spoke about the growing conflicts and geopolitical divisions that are threatening peace and security, and the polarization that divides communities.
The widening inequality gap under the guise of peace and justice, as well as the alarming rise in global emissions and temperatures, challenge peace with nature.
The solution to these challenges, he said, is to make “a real and positive difference in people's lives” and “solve people's problems.”
Although the challenges are difficult and the path complex, the call for peace, solidarity and action has resonated deeply both inside and outside the UN.
