Mr. Putin noted that both Russia and Africa want to form a system of relations based primarily on international law, taking into account national interests and the indivisibility of security.
In an article titled “Russia and Africa: Joining Forces for Peace, Progress and a Successful Future,” published on July 24 on the Kremlin website, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia's partnership with Africa has deep and strong roots and has always been characterized by stability, trust and goodwill.

In the article, the Russian President stated: “We sincerely appreciate the friendship and cooperation built up in a genuine way, the tradition of trust and mutual assistance that has developed between Russia and African countries.”
Mr. Putin also noted that both sides want to form a system of relations based primarily on international law, taking into account national interests, the indivisibility of security, and also recognizing the central coordinating role of the United Nations.
President Putin also stressed that Russia has always expressed support for the African people in their struggle to liberate them from colonial oppression.
“We… assisted (Africa) in state formation, strengthening sovereignty and defense capabilities,” Putin wrote.
In the article, the Russian President said he looked forward to meeting African leaders at the second Russia-Africa Summit, to be held in St. Petersburg on July 27-28.
The conference is expected to adopt a joint statement, as well as an action plan for the Country-Continent Partnership Forum until 2026.
Previously, on July 21, Mr. Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the country's Security Council.
Issues of developing relations with African countries and the use of information technology were discussed at the meeting. Currently, 49 countries have confirmed their participation in the above-mentioned Summit.
According to RT, the situation in Russia after the Wagner uprising, the prospects for peace in Ukraine, the fate of the Black Sea Grain Agreement, as well as Western efforts to prevent the expansion of BRICS became the topics that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov mentioned at a press conference on June 30 local time.
