After the welcoming ceremony at Noi Bai airport, the escort including the Aurus Senat supercar will take Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Metropole hotel.

Security is tight around the reception area.

It is expected that on the morning of June 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with President To Lam, hold talks with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The Russian leader will lay wreaths and pay his respects at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs; lay wreaths and pay his respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

According to Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, during this visit, the two sides will organize a meeting with leaders of the Vietnam Friendship Association and generations of former Vietnamese students who studied in Russia.

The two sides are expected to adopt a Joint Statement as well as sign a series of cooperation documents in the fields of higher education, justice, customs regulations, health, energy as well as through scientific organizations.

This is Mr. Vladimir Putin's fifth visit as President of Russia. Previously, President Putin has visited Vietnam four times, including three official visits in 2001, 2006, and 2013.

In 2017, Mr. Putin came to Da Nang to attend the 2017 APEC Summit hosted by Vietnam.
