Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump stressed that “there are a lot of potential customers” interested in buying TikTok. The US leader also affirmed his desire to maintain the existence of the application, which has up to 170 million US users.
In January, the US President set a deadline of April 5, 2025 for ByteDance to sell TikTok to a non-Chinese buyer or face being banned in the US. This deadline was extended by 75 days from the deadline set by the 2024 law banning TikTok from operating in January 2025 on national security grounds, which was enacted by the previous administration of Mr. Joe Biden.
