According to CNN citing a White House announcement, the call took place on April 28, in which President Biden reiterated his "clear position" on Israel's planned attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

"The president and prime minister also discussed increasing humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, including through preparations to open new northern crossings starting this week," the statement said.

The Biden administration has reportedly made it clear to Israel that it wants a clear and actionable plan in Rafah that ensures the safety of civilians.

Speaking earlier, White House National Security Adviser John Kirby said Israel had agreed to listen to US concerns before launching the Rafah operation.

During the discussion, President Biden reaffirmed America's unwavering commitment to Israel and assessed the ongoing dialogue aimed at reaching a ceasefire and releasing hostages between Israel and Hamas.

The call came just days after President Biden signed a foreign aid bill that included $26 billion for Israel.

In a phone call earlier in April, President Biden told Prime Minister Netanyahu that the overall humanitarian situation in Gaza was unacceptable, warning Israel of the consequences if it did not address the crisis.

On April 29, a Hamas delegation will travel to Cairo (Egypt) to negotiate a ceasefire agreement proposed by this force, according to a Hamas official told Reuters.
