The US leader said that according to some initial information, the explosion at Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital in the Gaza Strip was not caused by Israel but the perpetrator could be another group.
“From what I see, the attack was carried out by another group, not you (Israel),” Mr. Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a press conference on October 18.
At this press conference, President Biden also affirmed that the United States supports the Jewish State's right to self-defense against attacks by the Hamas Islamic movement.
At the same time, he announced that he would provide enough weapons to help Israel defend itself and condemned the attacks that caused many civilian casualties and captured many victims, including Americans.
In addition, the US leader also asked Israel to pay attention to not attacking civilian targets and open humanitarian corridors for the international community to bring relief goods, help Palestinians, and allow innocent people to escape the conflict area.
Also speaking at the press conference, Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked the US leader for his “clear support” for the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In particular, Mr. Netanyahu said, he was “very moved” that Mr. Biden was the first US President to visit Israel during a conflict. According to this official, the move demonstrated the deep commitment of the US to the future of the Jewish people and the Jewish State.
However, Mr. Netanyahu also avoided mentioning the humanitarian situation or the explosion that killed hundreds of people at Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital in the Gaza Strip on the night of October 17.
