US President Joe Biden and a high-level US delegation are on a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The US leader's state visit to Vietnam took place from September 10-11.
On the night of September 10th, after concluding his activities on the first day of his visit to Vietnam, US President Joe Biden shared a post on his social media account X.
President Joe Biden wrote: "Thank you for the warm welcome, Vietnam. I know this will be a historic visit."
Along with a brief message, Joe Biden also posted three photos from the official welcoming ceremony held at the Presidential Palace with the highest protocol reserved for heads of state. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presided over the ceremony.
Less than 60 minutes after his first post, President Joe Biden posted a second message on his X account. This post was dedicated to sharing his conversation with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Joe Biden said: "It's a pleasure to speak with you, General Secretary. As I've said before, Vietnam and the United States have a tremendous opportunity to become important partners. I know we can achieve our shared aspirations for a more peaceful , secure, and prosperous future."
On the afternoon of September 10th, US President Joe Biden arrived in Hanoi , the capital of Vietnam, beginning his state visit to the country.
Immediately following the official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with US President Joe Biden.
Following the talks, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Joe Biden spoke to Vietnamese, American, and international press about the positive results of the meeting.
Accordingly, the two sides adopted a Joint Statement, elevating the Vietnam-US relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
Later that evening, US President Joe Biden held a brief press conference at a hotel in Hanoi, summarizing some of the results of his talks with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and answering questions from the press.
