Speaking with the Prime Minister, President Joe Biden highly appreciated the results of his recent phone call with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Joe Biden also discussed a number of measures to promote bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern.
Previously, on the evening of March 29, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a high-level phone call with President Joe Biden.
The two leaders expressed their pleasure at having the opportunity to exchange views on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the results achieved in the relationship between the two countries are in line with the aspirations of the people of the two countries.
The relationship is promoted on the basis of respect for each country's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions, mutual understanding, equal cooperation, mutual benefit and in the spirit of "putting aside the past, overcoming differences, promoting similarities, and looking towards the future". Also on the afternoon of May 20, in Hiroshima, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. The two sides discussed measures to promote the implementation of agreements between the two countries' senior leaders.
Within the framework of the expanded G7 Summit on the afternoon of May 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also had a quick meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
