Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his wife will pay a state visit to Vietnam early next month.
The visit of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his wife will take place from November 1-5, at the invitation of Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
Mr. Khurelsukh has served as President of Mongolia since 2021. He visited Vietnam in January 2010 as Secretary-General of the Mongolian People's Party. In May, the President met with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong at the coronation of King Charles III in London.

Vietnam and Mongolia established diplomatic relations on November 17, 1954. The two countries have a traditional friendship, regularly assisting and supporting each other. Mongolia has repeatedly emphasized that Vietnam is its most important partner in Southeast Asia. Vietnam is currently considering and studying Mongolia's proposal to establish a framework for a Comprehensive Partnership.
Trade exchange has grown rapidly recently, reaching approximately $50 million in 2020, around $80 million in 2021, $85 million in 2022, and is projected to reach $75 million in the first eight months of 2023.
As of November 2019, Mongolia had three investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of US$1.1 million, ranking 96th out of 126 countries and territories with investment projects in Vietnam.
During the official visit of Minister of Public Security To Lam in July 2019, the two sides signed an Agreement on the Exchange and Protection of Confidential Information (the first agreement Mongolia has signed with a foreign country) and an Extradition Agreement. In 2020, Mongolia donated 105 breeding horses to support the equipment of the Mounted Police Unit of the Ministry of Public Security .
As of August, there were approximately 400 Vietnamese workers living in Mongolia, mainly employed in auto repair shops.
