In a statement on March 30, US President Donald Trump said that an agreement with the Chinese company ByteDance on the sale of the TikTok application will be signed before the deadline on April 5.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump stressed that “there are a lot of potential customers” interested in acquiring TikTok.
The US leader also personally affirmed his desire to maintain the existence of this application, which currently has 170 million American users.
In January this year, the US President set a deadline of April 5, 2025 for ByteDance to sell TikTok to a non-Chinese buyer or face being banned in the US.
This deadline has been extended by 75 days compared to the deadline in the law banning TikTok from operating from January 2025 on national security grounds, issued by the previous administration of Mr. Joe Biden in 2024./.
