On the afternoon of April 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira has conveyed President Lula da Silva's invitation to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the G20 Summit in Brazil this November.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh happily accepted the invitation and said that Vietnam highly appreciated the conference topics proposed by Brazil and would continue to actively contribute to the success of the G20 conference.

The Head of Government requested that the Foreign Ministries of the two countries continue to coordinate closely to discuss, arrange, and carefully prepare for the visit.

The Prime Minister was pleased with the important developments in the recent comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil as well as the good results of the talks between Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Minister Mauro Vieira.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate closely to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-ranking leaders between the two countries.

Trade and economy is a field with great potential between the two countries as Brazil continues to be Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America and the second largest trading partner in the Americas with bilateral turnover continuously increasing over the years and reaching 7.11 billion USD in 2023.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the Brazilian Government soon recognize Vietnam's economic status, and suggested that Brazil continue to coordinate with member countries of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) to soon promote and launch negotiations on the Vietnam-MERCOSUR Free Trade Agreement.

For his part, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again and witness Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements.

The government of President Lula da Silva attaches great importance to the role and position of Vietnam in the region. He said that this visit aims to promote the results achieved during the Prime Minister's recent visit as well as strengthen other areas of cooperation, while preparing for President Lula da Silva's visit to Vietnam in the near future.

Brazil is actively preparing for the G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in November, and hopes that Vietnam will coordinate, exchange and develop content to contribute to the success of the event.

Minister Mauro Vieira proposed specific measures and agreed on a bilateral cooperation program between Vietnam and Brazil in the coming time, especially in agriculture, science and technology, energy conversion, bioenergy...

Earlier, on the morning of April 10, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira held talks.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed and appreciated the significance of the visit of the Brazilian Foreign Minister, which took place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 35th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2024.

Minister Mauro Vieira highly appreciated Vietnam's foreign policy, economic and trade integration process, and socio-economic development achievements. The Brazilian government always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen relations with Vietnam, and this visit is one of the concrete steps to implement that orientation.

The two Ministers informed each other about the socio-economic development situation as well as foreign relations of each country in recent times; reaffirmed the importance of Vietnam - Brazil relations in the overall foreign relations of each country.

The two sides highly appreciated the positive developments in politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, cooperation at international multilateral forums, security, defense, agriculture, science, technology, culture, people-to-people exchange, etc. Brazil is currently Vietnam's largest trade partner in Latin America with a turnover of more than 7.1 billion USD in 2023.

The two Ministers said that the two countries still have a lot of potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of climate change response, green and sustainable development, environmental protection, digital transformation, and Halal food production.

The two sides will continue to promote the foundation of the good traditional friendship to promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation in a deeper and stronger manner, towards establishing a framework for a Strategic Partnership.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting the effectiveness of the Joint Committee meetings, Political Consultations at the Deputy Foreign Minister level and implementing the agreements signed between the two Diplomatic Academies, coordinating in activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations; actively coordinating to implement visits by high-ranking leaders in the coming time.
