Vietnam - US Summit on Investment and Innovation held in Hanoi on September 11, 2023.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh made the statement at the Vietnam-US Summit on Investment and Innovation held in Hanoi on September 11, 2023. The event was attended by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and delegations from both countries.

Participating in the discussion as one of the representatives of Vietnamese enterprises, FPT Chairman emphasized the Group's commitment to promoting investment in the US, developing AI and the semiconductor industry, thereby strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and the US.

FPT Chairman proposes direction to nurture semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam

The FPT Chairman's proposal to the US Government includes two main contents: First, FPT supports comprehensive policies from the US Government to nurture the development of the semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam. FPT Corporation also proposed that the Government invest in training from 30,000 to 50,000 semiconductor experts to meet the growing needs of the industry, and committed to contributing to the goal.

FPT hopes that FPT University will receive investment to train engineers specializing in semiconductor chip design and AI, to improve the capacity of the workforce in these important fields.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh affirmed: “As a representative of Vietnamese enterprises, FPT hopes that the US Government will have comprehensive support policies to turn Vietnam into a country with a semiconductor ecosystem. FPT proposes that the US Government call for investment in Vietnam, especially from large enterprises such as Boeing, AT&T, Qualcomm, Intel, Ford, etc. We also hope that the Vietnamese Government will create favorable legal conditions and commit to investing in developing and training semiconductor human resources of about 30,000 - 50,000 people.”

Previously, FPT University announced the establishment of the Semiconductor Microchip Faculty, aiming to supplement the high-quality human resources that are lacking in Vietnam. The Faculty is expected to welcome the first batch of students in 2024 with the orientation of specialized training in microchip design and conducting research for the semiconductor microchip industry in Vietnam.

FPT joins hands with leading artificial intelligence company in the US

Also during President Joe Biden's visit to Vietnam, FPT Corporation announced a comprehensive strategic cooperation with LandingAI - a pioneer in the field of machine vision and artificial intelligence in Silicon Valley (USA) to accelerate the process of bringing AI into training at the FPT Education system.

The FPT Chairman’s proposal is in line with the agreement between the US and Vietnam during President Biden’s visit, in which the two countries’ core goals are to cooperate in developing the semiconductor industry and workforce.

In 2022, FPT announced the establishment of FPT Semiconductor - a company that designs and manufactures microchips. To date, FPT Semiconductor's power chip products have passed the research and development stage and entered the mass production stage. FPT plans to supply 25 million chips globally in 2024 and 2025.

FPT entered the US market in 2008 and has become a trusted partner of more than 300 customers, including more than 30 companies in the Fortune 500 list. The US is one of FPT's most important foreign markets, contributing the highest profit with a growth rate of 50% by 2022. By the end of 2023, FPT plans to invest 100 million USD and nearly 1,000 employees here. With continuous investments, FPT expects to create more than 3,000 jobs by 2028 and achieve revenue of 1 billion USD from the US market by 2030.
