On March 25, Mr. Alexander Lukashenko was officially sworn in as President of Belarus for the 7th consecutive term.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Independence Palace in the capital Minsk, in front of more than 1,100 delegates, including senior Belarusian leaders representing all three branches of power, President Lukashenko's confidants and many foreign guests, TASS news agency reported. Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov represented Moscow.
At the oath-taking ceremony, the leader swears to faithfully serve the people, respect and protect the rights and freedoms of the people, and abide by and protect the nation's Constitution.
According to THX , in his inaugural speech, President Lukashenko affirmed: "The Belarusian people are peaceful people and Belarus is a peace-loving country. We support fair peace and resolving all issues through dialogue."
In addition, Mr. Lukashenko also said that when entering a new historical period, Belarus needs to rely on a development strategy that has been proven over time, while emphasizing that the general direction for development will be based on tradition, hard work and technology.
Expressing confidence that all this will bring a higher quality of life to all Belarusians, the leader also pledged to maintain the socially oriented economic model and continue the fight against bureaucracy and corruption.
Also in his speech, President Lukashenko accused NATO troops of being "on the doorstep" of Belarus and Western countries of "doing everything" to drag Minsk into a conflict, stressing: "The escalation around the country is getting worse."
According to him, the world is unstable and on the brink of a geopolitical crisis, and fortunately Belarus "has many friends and allies", brotherly Russia, China, partners of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the group of leading emerging economies (BRICS). In fact, all of these countries now form the global majority, Belarus "is a country worthy of respect".
In the Belarusian presidential election last January, Mr. Lukashenko won an overwhelming victory with 86.82% of voters supporting him.
