On the evening of March 9, at Lam Son Square (Thanh Hoa City), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a closing ceremony of the 20th Ethnic Culture Festival and a performance of traditional costumes of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic groups in 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony were representatives of provincial departments, agencies, unions; districts, towns and cities in the province, along with more than 1,000 folk artists, actors and musicians from art troupes from 27 districts, towns and cities in the province.

During the 2 days of the festival (from March 8 to 9), many unique, attractive and exciting cultural activities took place, creating an impressive traditional cultural space with many good cultural values performed such as: Cheo singing, Xam singing, traditional musical instrument ensemble, Chau Van singing, lamp dancing, Sa fish dancing, and charm casting of the Kinh, Thai, Muong, Dao, Mong ethnic groups...

With a love for traditional culture and elaborate investment, the units brought to the festival many unique performances, thereby expressing the unique cultural identity of each ethnic group and the culture of each locality. In particular, in the performance of folk art programs, performing traditional cultural rituals, games, and folk performances, the artists, artisans, and people performed skillfully and uniquely. In addition to the performances, folk songs, folk dances, and folk music imbued with the colors of each ethnic group, there were modern song - dance - music compositions with folk melodies expressing love for the homeland, solidarity among ethnic groups... captivating people's hearts, leaving the audience with different levels of emotions.

The traditional costume performance with images of charming and talented boys and girls in colorful costumes of everyday life, festivals, weddings... has clearly shown the cultural identity of each ethnic group as well as the unique features of the locality. The competition has created a colorful picture of the culture, people and vitality of the ethnic groups in Thanh Hoa.

Through the activities at the festival, ethnic people in the province can participate in enjoying, appreciating, and exchanging cultural and artistic activities, raising awareness and responsibility in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. Thereby, gradually improving the spiritual life of the people, building and consolidating the great national unity bloc. This is also an opportunity for localities to promote the image of the land and people, the unique cultural values of ethnic groups to the people and tourists, thereby promoting the development of culture and tourism.
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 29 A prizes for the folk art performance competition; 45 A prizes, 63 B prizes for the traditional costume performance competition of ethnic groups.
