Summary of the Program for coordination in implementing tasks in the field of natural resources and environment

Dak Lak Farmers' Association has just coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dak Lak province to organize a conference to summarize 5 years of the Program of coordination in implementing tasks in the field of natural resources and environment for the period 2018 - 2023.

During the period of 2018 - 2023, the Provincial Farmers' Association and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment have coordinated to implement many rural environmental protection activities with practical content associated with the implementation of assigned functions and tasks.

Through coordinated activities of propaganda, education, and training to improve knowledge between the two units, most farmers have raised their awareness of the risks of environmental pollution in rural areas and the negative impacts of environmental pollution on people's socio-economic life and health. Currently, 100% of officials and farmer members have registered to participate in environmental protection, 100% of member households producing, processing, and consuming agricultural products are committed to ensuring food safety, and 100% of the Association's facilities have built models on environmental protection and adaptation to climate change.

In the past 5 years, the units have coordinated to mobilize farmer members to contribute over 51.6 billion VND, more than 64,400 working days and more than 268,700 m2 of land to upgrade and renew rural roads; participated in planting nearly 100,000 trees scattered throughout the province.

In addition, the Provincial Farmers' Association has also coordinated with relevant sectors to build and maintain 187 models of farmers participating in environmental protection and responding to climate change; directed and guided all levels of the Association to build 12 production models in the direction of biosafety associated with agricultural value chains and environmental protection; coordinated with the Central Center for Rural Environment of the Vietnam Farmers' Association to build 2 models of "Farmers' Association collecting, classifying and treating waste at source" in Ia Rve commune, Ea Sup district and "Farmers' Association collecting, classifying and transporting domestic waste in rural areas" in Ea Knop town, Ea Kar district.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and clarifying some contents, achieved results as well as existing aspects and limitations. At the same time, they proposed and recommended some contents that need to be implemented in the coordination program between the two units in the coming period. In which, they focused on promoting awareness and responsibility of the whole society in environmental protection, especially the collection and treatment of waste in localities, waste treatment in production and business activities; promoting inspection, monitoring, detection and strict handling of violations of environmental protection laws according to their authority; resolving disputes, complaints, denunciations and recommendations on the environment according to the provisions of law; building and replicating models of environmental protection, adaptation to climate change, self-management models on environmental protection; strengthening the implementation of the contents of Criterion 17 on Environment and Food Safety in the National Target Program on New Rural Development in the new period...

On this occasion, the Provincial Farmers' Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 collectives and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in performing tasks in the field of natural resources and environment in the period of 2018 - 2023.
