The first Inter-Provincial Traffic Safety Festival organized by Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company Limited (“Prudential”) in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and local partners attracted the participation of more than 500 students, parents, teachers and leaders at all levels and departments of Gia Lai, Quang Ngai and Yen Bai provinces.
Students, teachers and parents from 7 project schools from Gia Lai, Yen Bai and Quang Ngai provinces gathered at the Children's House in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province to attend the Traffic Safety Festival.
Coming to the festival, students can participate in a series of exciting activities, and at the same time, compete in knowledge about traffic safety to find the Super Safe Kids. This is the first time the festival is organized on an inter-provincial scale.
Three excellent teams from Nguyen Trai Primary School, Tinh Binh Primary School and Viet Thanh Primary & Secondary School overcame thousands of students to represent three provinces to compete at the Festival. Through the event, the students confidently applied their knowledge and skills in traffic safety after many months of the “Safe to School” project being implemented in schools.
The final round consisted of 3 parts: Warm-up, Overcoming obstacles and Finishing. Through the challenges, students not only practiced and developed knowledge and skills related to the topic of traffic safety that they had acquired through the project, but also practiced teamwork skills, handling situations and had the opportunity to exchange and learn from other schools.
Notably, three small projects spreading the message of traffic safety to the community were implemented by the students themselves with initiatives that created sustainable and long-term impacts. After three exciting and interesting competitions, the student team from Viet Thanh Primary and Secondary School - Yen Bai Province won and was honored as the Super Safe Kids of the 2024-2025 school year.
In addition to the competition, teachers, parents and students present at the event participated in a series of physical and intellectual games related to the topic of traffic safety called "Super Kids in Action" with the support of nearly 40 Prudential Vietnam volunteers.
In particular, students and teachers were transformed into the animated world of Gumball through virtual reality (VR) technology to find their way to school safely. The event provided a useful and interesting playground, helping students equip themselves with knowledge and skills to protect their own safety when participating in road traffic.
Mr. Le Kim Thanh - Vice Chairman in charge - National Traffic Safety Committee - shared: "The "Safe to School" project is a practical project and conveys a meaningful message. The project also shows special concern for the future generation of the country; not only creating a safe and civilized way for students to go to school, but also educating and equipping them with knowledge about traffic safety".
The Inter-Provincial Traffic Safety Festival is a meaningful event to summarize the 5-year journey of the Safe School Project, contributing to the success of the journey to protect children on the way to school. After 5 years of implementation, the project has reached 15,000 students, 580 teachers and thousands of parents at 23 primary schools in 6 provinces and cities.
The positive results of the project were recorded with the average helmet wearing rate of students in the project schools increasing from 42% to 78%, and their road traffic awareness also increasing from 50% to 75%. 13 school gate areas were renovated and their safety rating increased from 1 star (Dangerous) to 3-4 stars (Safe) based on the International Road Performance Assessment (IRAP).
