General Secretary To Lam received the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam to say goodbye.

On the afternoon of December 23, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski who came to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of his term of office.

At the reception, the General Secretary highly appreciated the Ambassador's positive contributions and efforts to promote the bilateral relationship in recent times, with the highlight being the upgrading of the bilateral relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and congratulated the Ambassador on completing a very successful term of office in Vietnam.

The General Secretary said that Australia has always been one of Vietnam's foreign policy priorities and a leading important partner in the region. Within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the two countries need to continue to promote political trust and share visions and views on regional and international issues; and welcomed the recent implementation of ministerial-level dialogue mechanisms that both sides have paid attention to.

On this occasion, the General Secretary expressed his gratitude to the Australian Government for supporting Vietnam in many areas such as health care, deploying UN peacekeeping forces, responding to climate change and energy transition, and creating favorable conditions for the 350,000 Vietnamese-Australian community; affirming that Vietnam wishes to further strengthen relations and cooperation with Australia for the benefit of the people of both countries, as well as contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.

Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski expressed his emotion and thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to meet him, saying that this was a great honor. The Ambassador said that during his term, the Australia-Vietnam relationship had made substantial progress in many areas, achieving many positive results; expressing his hope that in the next 50 years, the relationship between the two countries will make great strides compared to the past 50 years.

Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski expressed his agreement and admiration for the vision of the Vietnamese leaders and said that he felt the consensus of the Vietnamese people about the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise. The Ambassador emphasized that Australia wishes to have more contributions and support for Vietnam's development process and hopes that the Australia - Vietnam relationship will continue to be promoted in a substantive and comprehensive manner to match the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation; affirming that there will certainly be many Australian businesses wishing to invest in Vietnam in this new era.

Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski added that no matter what new position he holds after his term ends, he will always maintain good impressions and strive to foster good relations between the two countries.
