(HTV) - This morning, General Secretary To Lam and the Central delegation met with former Party and State leaders, exemplary veteran officials, intellectual representatives, scientists, and artists from southern provinces and cities.
Attending the meeting were comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; comrade Nguyen Van Nen - Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. Also attending were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former President Truong Tan Sang, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh.
At the beginning of the meeting, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen reported on the outstanding results and imprints of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024, and expressed that the city is grateful to the Party and State for always paying attention to leadership and direction in a timely, close and effective manner; thanking the leaders, former leaders of the Party and State, veteran cadres, central ministries, branches and localities for sharing and supporting the city to be what it is today. Ho Chi Minh City also respectfully acknowledges and thanks the valuable contributions of intellectuals, scientists, artists and all the people and business community over the past time, especially in difficult times and great challenges.
The year 2025 is of special significance, a year of acceleration to complete the goals and tasks of the 11th Party Congress of the city and organize Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress; a year of important national holidays. In 2025, the city is also determined to strive for double-digit growth, along with that, the city will complete the set goals, continue to be the economic locomotive, financial center, culture, health, education, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation.

Sharing at the meeting, the intellectuals and scientists expressed their joy at the achievements in socio-economic development, Party building and rectification, and the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity of the Party and State in the past year. They expressed that with their role, responsibility, and mission in the new revolutionary period, they will strongly increase their contributions with the entire Party, people, and army to successfully implement the country's strategic goals.
Expressing his pleasure to attend the meeting with former leaders of the Party and State, exemplary veteran cadres and representatives of intellectuals, scientists, artists, General Secretary To Lam sincerely thanked and sent his warmest regards to the delegates. Informing about the country's socio-economic situation over the past year, the General Secretary said that in the context of many difficulties and challenges, we are very happy to have achieved the general goals set and reaped many important results in most areas, including completing and surpassing all 15/15 main targets of the 2024 plan. The macro economy is stable, economic growth reached over 7%, the highest in the region and the world in the context of global difficulties; notably, our economic structure continues to shift towards industrialization and modernization. In addition, strategic breakthroughs were implemented vigorously, with a spirit of innovation and high determination, achieving positive results in many fields.
According to the General Secretary, these common achievements include great contributions from former leaders, intellectuals, scientists, and artists - those who have devoted their intelligence, enthusiasm, and valuable experience to policy making, providing directions, and breakthrough solutions in all fields.
