On July 3, in Hanoi, the Central Military Commission held its 6th Conference for the 2020-2025 term, evaluating the results of leadership in implementing military and defense tasks and building the Army Party Committee in the first 6 months of the year; deploying key tasks for the last 6 months of 2023.

Opening the Conference, General Phan Van Giang announced the Politburo's Decision to appoint Politburo member and President Vo Van Thuong to join the Central Military Commission Standing Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

The report at the Conference showed that in the first 6 months of 2023, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and Party committees and commanders at all levels led and directed the entire army to unite, proactively overcome difficulties, and comprehensively complete tasks, with many tasks completed well.

The Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and Party committees and commanders at all levels have proactively studied and correctly assessed the situation, advised and proposed to the Party and State to effectively handle situations, avoid being passive and surprised, firmly protect the territorial sovereignty of the Fatherland; promptly draw lessons, direct adjustments to training content and methods, education and training, combat plans and build political and spiritual factors in the Army. Building a strong military party

Speaking at the conference, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted that the entire military should focus on proactively grasping the situation and providing timely, accurate, and appropriate advice on solutions to successfully handle situations, including those in the air, at sea, at the border, and inland.

The entire army continues to maintain strategic initiative, not to be passive or surprised; actively research and advise the Party and State to issue resolutions and laws on military, national defense, national defense, and civil defense. The General Secretary emphasized the need to ensure adequate and timely logistics and technology, and promote the development of the defense industry in a modern and dual-use direction to meet the equipment needs of units. Further improve the effectiveness of international integration and defense diplomacy in accordance with the spirit of the Politburo's Conclusion on international integration and defense diplomacy until 2030 and the following years.

“You have done a very good job in this area of ​​work, clearly affirming the function of your working army; proactively reaching out to the people, helping them with what they need, supporting them with what they lack. That is the work that demonstrates the nature and good tradition that the Army needs to promote even more in the coming time, contributing to building a solid position of people's hearts, raising vigilance, and absolutely not allowing hostile forces to entice and incite,” said the General Secretary.

The General Secretary suggested that it is necessary to lead and direct the preparation of all aspects to celebrate the country's major holidays in 2024; focusing on the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory; the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day.

"We must carry out education and propaganda work well and extensively so that people at home and international friends can understand more deeply the heroic history, glorious tradition, and glorious feats of our Army over the past 80 years under the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party, the protection, shelter, and assistance of the people, and the support and assistance of international friends and peace-loving people around the world," the General Secretary emphasized.
