General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chairs key leadership meeting

On the afternoon of June 12, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of key leaders to assess the situation and work results in April and May 2024 and key tasks in the coming time.

Attending the meeting were comrade Luong Cuong, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; comrade Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Party Central Committee member, Head of the Party Central Committee Office.

At the meeting, key leaders assessed that over the past two months, the entire Party, people and army have strived to achieve many important results in the fields of socio-economic development, national defense, security, foreign affairs, Party and political system building, personnel work and anti-corruption and negativity work.

Notably, the 9th Central Conference was successfully organized; the 7th Session (phase 1) of the 15th National Assembly was held with many important contents, especially the personnel work was carried out synchronously and promptly, receiving high consensus from public opinion, cadres, party members and people; the positions of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term; Chairman of the 15th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term and the position of Standing member of the 13th Secretariat were completed; the Central Committee elected 4 additional members of the 13th Politburo; the personnel of the sub-committees preparing for the 14th National Party Congress, the sub-committee for internal political protection in the Central Committee and a number of steering committees were completed and approved the completion of the leadership positions of a number of party and state agencies.

The socio-economic situation continues to change positively. The macro-economy is stable, major balances are ensured. State budget revenue increases, the state financial and budget situation continues to improve. Industrial production maintains growth momentum; agricultural production develops well. Energy security, food security are ensured... The number of international visitors to Vietnam, import and export activities of goods; attracting foreign investment capital; the production and business situation of enterprises have many positive changes. The Government has completed and approved the Planning of 6 socio-economic regions; there are many drastic solutions to focus on removing difficulties for production and business; promoting important national projects and works, developing social housing, stabilizing the gold market, and the credit market. Administrative reform, digital transformation, Project 06 on "Developing the application of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030" has been focused on and implemented. Social security work continues to receive attention. Ensuring national security, order and social safety; cultural, sports, tourism, information and propaganda activities have been promoted with many good impressions, especially the activities and the Ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024); disease prevention and control, natural disasters have been actively deployed... The fields of inspection, discipline, prevention and control of corruption and negativity continue to receive attention and direction. Foreign affairs activities have taken place practically and effectively, contributing to enhancing the role and position of Vietnam...

Regarding some key tasks in the coming time, key leaders emphasized that, in addition to opportunities and advantages, we are and will face many difficulties and challenges due to the world situation continuing to develop in a complicated and unpredictable manner, fierce competition between major countries, escalating conflicts; climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics have a heavy impact, so all levels and sectors continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity; coordinate smoothly, and direct the implementation of tasks effectively. Specifically:

Strongly promote economic growth associated with consolidating and maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy; focus on removing difficulties for production and business. Have solutions to stabilize the market and prices, especially for gasoline, oil, essential goods, housing and food. Implement synchronous and effective solutions to strictly manage the gold market associated with maintaining exchange rates and stabilizing the macro economy. Accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital, 3 national target programs, important projects, and national key infrastructure. Urgently implement the issued plans, especially the Power Plan VIII, regions, and provinces; focus on completing the approval of the remaining plans. Proactively develop appropriate plans and schemes to ensure sufficient electricity, water, and gasoline for production, business, and daily life. Continue to promote the development and improvement of institutions and law enforcement, especially for newly effective laws; ensure efficiency, synchronization and timeliness. Promote administrative procedure reform, digital transformation, and implement the Project "Developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030". Strengthen measures to prevent and combat natural disasters, fires, floods, droughts, and saltwater intrusion; ensure traffic safety, security, and food safety.

Focus on doing well the work to prepare for directing the Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; focus on completing the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress to submit to the 10th Central Conference as planned, review and supplement the planning at all levels to prepare for the personnel project for the Party Congresses at all levels. Continue to do well the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, contributing to consolidating and enhancing people's trust in the Party, the State and the regime. Speed up the verification, investigation, prosecution and trial of serious and complicated corruption and negativity cases and incidents that are of public concern, especially cases and incidents under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity. Direct and urge Party organizations to overcome violations and shortcomings that have been concluded by the Central Inspection Committee and relevant agencies. Actively propagate, educate, promptly orientate ideology and public opinion on the work of fighting, preventing and combating corruption and negativity...

Firmly ensure national defense and security, social order and safety. Effectively carry out foreign affairs, strengthen relations with countries and important partners, prioritize, promote and carefully organize foreign affairs events at home and abroad, maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

Do a good job in personnel work, protect internal politics; step up the fight, effectively handle bad information, false information, and sabotage information from hostile forces... Correct the situation where some press agencies do not strictly comply with information and propaganda regulations; publish unverified news and articles, operate inconsistently with their principles and purposes, causing confusion and negative impacts in society.

Carry out well the work of mass mobilization, ethnic and religious affairs to limit negative impacts and influences on security, politics, order and social safety, create high consensus in society, promote patriotic emulation movements, and consolidate the great national unity bloc.
