(Dan Tri) - General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will visit Mongolia, Ireland and France from September 30 to October 7.
At the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Irish President Michael D. Higgins and French President Emmanuel Macron, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will pay a state visit to Mongolia and Ireland, attend the 19th Francophone Summit and pay an official visit to France from September 30 to October 7.

Vietnam and France established diplomatic relations at the Ambassadorial level on April 12, 1973. Recently, the two countries have had many high-level phone calls. The two countries have many cooperation mechanisms, notably the defense and security strategic dialogue between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Vietnam and France, chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; annual high-level economic dialogue; Defense strategic dialogue between the two Ministries of Defense at the Deputy Ministerial level. France is Vietnam's fifth largest European trading partner (after Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Italy). Trade turnover in 2022 reached 5.3 billion USD, up 10% compared to 4.8 billion USD in 2021. Of which, export turnover to the French market reached 3.69 billion USD (mainly footwear, textiles, ceramic - porcelain - rattan - bamboo products, seafood and machinery, equipment, electronic components) and Vietnam's import turnover from France reached 1.63 billion USD (mainly aviation equipment, industrial machinery, pharmaceuticals, agricultural - food products, chemicals and cosmetics). Vietnam - Mongolia is a traditional friendly relationship. The two sides maintain close coordination in international and regional activities such as the United Nations, UNESCO, the Non-Aligned Movement, the ARF Regional Forum, ASEM... Mongolia supports Vietnam's accession to the WTO, supports our becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-2009 term, and supports Vietnam's entry into the UNESCO Executive Council for the 2010-2013 term. Vietnam supports Mongolia's participation in the ECOSOC Executive Committee for the 2010-2013 term, and is ready to support Mongolia in expanding relations with ASEAN countries and joining APEC when the organization admits new members. Regarding the East Sea , Mongolia maintains a neutral stance, supporting the settlement of disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means through dialogue and international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS. With Ireland, the two countries established diplomatic relations on April 5, 1996. The two countries maintain contact on the sidelines of multilateral forums. In November 2017, Ireland announced the Cooperation Strategy for Vietnam and three Southeast Asian countries (Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar) for the period 2017-2020, affirming its importance in promoting cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of politics, development cooperation, trade - investment (especially in agriculture, aviation, clean energy, information technology - communications and medical equipment...), education - training and people-to-people exchange. Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Ireland has grown positively. Vietnam is one of the 9 priority partner countries receiving development aid from Ireland. From 2007-2020, Ireland has supported Vietnam with a total budget of about 180 million Euros through the Ireland - Vietnam National Strategies (CSP) for the period 2007-2010 worth 85.5 million Euros; The 2011-2015 period, worth 55 million Euros, and the 2017-2020 period, worth 40 million Euros, aim to support poverty reduction and vulnerable groups, and provide basic services to poor communes in Vietnam.
