According to the special correspondent of VNA, at 9:27 a.m. (local time) on August 18, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, arrived in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province (China), starting a state visit to the People's Republic of China at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and his wife.

Welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province (China), on the Chinese side were Party Central Committee member, Governor of Guangdong Province Wang Weizhong, Mayor of Guangzhou City Sun Zhiyang, and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Ba.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai and his wife, Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung and his wife, along with a number of Consulate General staff and community members in Guangzhou.
Baiyun International Airport was brightly lit with the Vietnamese and Chinese flags. Two rows of honor guards lined the red carpet. Comrade Wang Weizhong and Guangdong provincial officials warmly welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
According to the program, in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Hoang Hoa Cuong Cemetery Park, laid flowers at the tomb of martyr Pham Hong Thai; visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Relic Site. General Secretary and President To Lam met with Politburo member and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee; and met with Chinese friendship figures.
