General Secretary and President To Lam receives President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines

On the afternoon of August 27, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam received President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines and a high-ranking delegation of the Australian Parliament on the occasion of their official visit to Vietnam.

Australian Senate President Sue Lines expressed her delight at returning to Vietnam and sincerely thanked General Secretary and President To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation. Once again, on behalf of the Australian Parliament and people, Senate President Sue Lines expressed her deep condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - who had warm friendship for Australia and strongly supported the upgrading of relations between the two countries to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Australian Senate President Sue Lines congratulated Vietnam on its successes in socio-economic development, improving people's lives as well as its position in the international arena. She also expressed her belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary and President To Lam, the Vietnamese people will continue to achieve new and greater achievements in the cause of national renewal and development.

Ms. Sue Lines informed the General Secretary and President about the results of her talks with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and her meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; affirmed that Australia considers Vietnam an important partner in the Southeast Asian region, and the Australian Parliament supports the promotion of a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.

The President of the Australian Senate emphasized that by upgrading the relationship to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Australia and Vietnam have become priority and important partners of each other, creating conditions for both sides to promote the achievements of cooperation, while expanding cooperation in new areas, especially climate change, digital transformation, energy, minerals, and peacekeeping. The President of the Senate also expressed support for the opinions of the General Secretary and President on the importance of cooperation between the two countries, highly appreciating the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Australia to the development of Australia and the good friendship between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed President of the Senate Sue Lines and the high-ranking delegation of the Australian Parliament to an official visit to Vietnam. On behalf of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and the people of Vietnam, Comrade To Lam sincerely thanked Ms. Sue Lines for representing the Government, Parliament and people of Australia to attend the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Vietnam last July. This noble gesture demonstrated the close bond and high level of relations between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated Australia on its achievements under the leadership of the Government and National Assembly; affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to relations with Australia, which is one of the priorities in its foreign policy.

The General Secretary and President expressed his belief that the visit to Vietnam by Senate President Sue Lines this time is of great significance, being the first official high-level visit between the two countries after upgrading relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world; at the same time, he highly appreciated the Senate President's positive contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that the relationship between the two countries has developed well, political trust has been increasingly enhanced, and bilateral cooperation still has much potential for new developments. Vietnam and Australia share many similar views on regional and international issues.

The General Secretary and President suggested that the two sides increase high-level exchanges and contacts through State, National Assembly and Party channels. Continuing to strengthen economic cooperation is of great significance, welcoming new areas of cooperation mentioned by the President of the Australian Senate; and said that Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for Australian businesses to invest in Vietnam.

Assessing that cultural, educational and training cooperation between the two countries has long-term significance, the General Secretary and President asked the President of the Australian Senate to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Australia to continue to make positive contributions to the development of Australia as well as the development of bilateral relations.
