General Secretary and President To Lam visits the Embassy and Vietnamese community in Cuba

On the occasion of his State visit to Cuba, on the afternoon of September 26 local time, in the capital city of Havana, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited and talked with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Cuba.

Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long expressed his gratitude to the Party and State for always paying attention to representative agencies abroad, especially in difficult areas like Cuba, thereby encouraging the spirit of the Embassy's staff to be determined to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and State.

Reporting to the General Secretary and President on the community situation, Ambassador Le Quang Long said that although the Vietnamese community living and working in Cuba is not large, it has achieved certain results, which have been recognized by the Cuban Party and State.

Investment activities of Vietnamese enterprises have initially appeared in Cuba in a number of fields, while Vietnamese students in Cuba are mainly recipients of government scholarships and have many outstanding achievements in their studies... The Ambassador believes that after this historic visit by the General Secretary and President, the relationship between the two countries will truly enter a new phase, in which the foundation of the special traditional friendship is maintained, while bringing investment and cooperation into reality, helping the two countries overcome difficulties.

Inquiring about the study, work, and daily life of Vietnamese students and officials in Cuba, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his emotion and joy at visiting Vietnamese representative agencies and meeting representatives of the Vietnamese community and overseas students in Cuba during his State visit to Cuba.

The General Secretary and President highly appreciated the achievements of the Embassy and representative agencies in Cuba in carrying out the tasks assigned by the Party and State, and acknowledged their efforts, solidarity and dedication in their work, thereby contributing to the development of Cuba and the relationship between the two countries. Recalling the traditional and affectionate relationship between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 65 years, the General Secretary and President pointed out that the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba was built on the historical foundation of the two peoples' steadfast and indomitable struggle for independence, freedom, sovereignty and self-determination, which was painstakingly cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh, Leader Fidel Castro and successive generations of leaders, overcoming the ups and downs of history over the past 60 years.

The General Secretary and President emphasized that we need to be responsible for our friendly country Cuba and for the common progressive movement of the whole world, and that is also what beloved President Ho Chi Minh always wished for.

The General Secretary and President affirmed that over the past years, the traditional solidarity, support and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have been continuously consolidated and developed in many fields. Leaders of the two Parties and countries have repeatedly emphasized that the relationship between the two countries is “a model between two socialist countries”, “a symbol of the times”. Economic, trade, investment and agricultural cooperation between the two countries has been actively promoted.

The General Secretary and President emphasized that this visit to Cuba aims to once again affirm that the Party, State and people of Vietnam highly value the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two Parties, two countries and two peoples, and wish to strongly develop and elevate the Vietnam-Cuba relationship in the new period.

The visit also demonstrates the solidarity, loyalty and consistency of the Party, State and people of Vietnam towards the fraternal Party, State and people of Cuba, our respect and close friendship for Cuba, our readiness to accompany, cooperate and develop together with Cuba to continuously consolidate and tighten the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two Parties, two States and people of the two countries.

Informing the community about the domestic situation, the General Secretary and President said that the country is in a pivotal stage of implementing the goals set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, preparing for the 14th National Party Congress to be held in the first quarter of 2026. Our Party is summarizing both the theory and practice of 40 years of renovation, thereby summarizing the theory of renovation, which is also the theory of the path to socialism in Vietnam. This will be the basis for proposing major policies and orientations for the new strategic development stage of the country in the coming time.

The General Secretary and President expressed his joy and hope that no matter where Vietnamese people live, their national traditions, spirit of great solidarity, Vietnamese bravery and intelligence will always be promoted, working together, helping each other in life, contributing to further tightening the special friendship between the people of Vietnam and Cuba and contributing to strengthening bilateral relations.

The General Secretary and President also asked the Ambassador and the staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in Cuba to promote the spirit of solidarity, fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and State, truly be a bridge to promote bilateral relations and cooperation, continue to implement the agreements and commitments reached during the visit, and bring the relationship between the two countries to a new stage.
