General Secretary and President To Lam departs for a state visit to Mongolia and Ireland; attends the 19th Francophone Summit and pays an official visit to the French Republic

On the morning of September 30, General Secretary and President To Lam led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to pay a state visit to Mongolia and Ireland; attend the 19th Francophone Summit and pay an official visit to the French Republic. The visit was at the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Irish President Michael D. Higgins and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The official delegation accompanying the General Secretary and President included Politburo member Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Party Central Committee Secretaries Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; and Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission.

Accompanying the official delegation were comrades from the Party Central Committee: Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mai Van Chinh, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Le Khanh Hai, Head of the Office of the President; Nguyen Thuy Anh, Head of the Social Committee of the National Assembly (Chairwoman of the Vietnam Subcommittee at the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly APF, President of the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association); Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Minister of Home Affairs; Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Transport; Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health; Nguyen Hai Ninh, Minister of Justice; Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

The official delegation also included comrades: To An Xo, Assistant to the General Secretary, Head of the General Secretary's Office; Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia; Do Minh Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ireland; Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to France.

The State visit to Mongolia is of special significance as it takes place on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the relationship between the two countries is at its best stage of development. The visit aims to affirm Vietnam's consistent policy of attaching importance to friendly relations with traditional friends, including Mongolia; wishing to promote relations with Mongolia in depth, substance, effectiveness, in accordance with the new situation.

For Ireland, this is the first State visit since the two sides established diplomatic relations. The visit contributes to enhancing political trust and consolidating friendly relations; promoting cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, science, technology, innovation, education, training, and agriculture.

For the Francophone Community, this is the first time the General Secretary and President has attended the Francophone Summit and will deliver an important speech, contributing to spreading more strongly the message of a proactive, positive, responsible Vietnam that is always ready to join hands with the international community to respond to challenges, contributing to a future of “peace, friendship, solidarity and sustainable development”, as the goal of the conference. Meanwhile, the official visit to France brings the strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level, increasingly in-depth, practical, commensurate with the potential and position of both countries in the region and the world...

The working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will contribute to consolidating the foundations and bases in Vietnam's relations with Mongolia, Ireland, France and the Francophone community; at the same time, exploring new areas and potentials in cooperation with each country, contributing to deepening relations with these countries in a more practical, effective and appropriate manner to the new situation.
