Within the framework of the State visit to China, on the morning of August 18, 2024, in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province, General Secretary and President To Lam met with representatives of friendship organizations, relatives of revolutionary generals, experts and advisors who helped Vietnam in the resistance wars, cadres and employees who have been participating in the conservation of relics related to the Vietnamese revolution, outstanding Chinese intellectuals, scholars and researchers on Vietnam, former Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam and Chinese youth.
Also attending the meeting were Comrade Hoang Khon Minh, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Guangdong Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, members of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, leaders of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, representatives of overseas Vietnamese, businesses, and Vietnamese students living, working, and studying in Guangdong province.
The Chinese delegates were moved to share their memories of President Ho Chi Minh during his time in China; of the days working side by side with Vietnamese war invalids and sick soldiers to heal their wounds; shared about activities to preserve, maintain and promote Vietnamese revolutionary historical relics in China; affirmed that they would continue to inherit and continue the "close Vietnam-China relationship, both comrades and brothers", persevering in the common ideals and beliefs in the cause of construction and development of each country.
Comrade Huang Kunming, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, sincerely thanked General Secretary and President To Lam for his special affection for Guangdong, affirming that the people of Guangdong will continue to inherit and promote the tradition of friendship like small streams and join together to converge into the great river of the Vietnam-China relationship. The Vietnam-China friendship, which was painstakingly built by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong and nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples of the two countries, will forever be a priceless common asset of the two Parties, two States and peoples, and needs to be continuously nurtured and developed.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure to meet friends, comrades, and representatives of all walks of life in China, who have been, are, and will continue to promote the traditional friendship and the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Vietnam and China.
General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his emotion when the first stop of the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State during their visit to China was Guangzhou, where exactly 100 years ago Uncle Ho set foot after 13 years of leaving to find a way to save the country, preparing in theory and organization for the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, and training outstanding leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam such as comrades Le Hong Phong, Ho Tung Mau and "two-nation general" Nguyen Son. Guangzhou is also where President Ho Chi Minh carried out revolutionary activities in Vietnam and actively participated in the revolutionary movement in China and the Communist International. The history of fighting side by side between revolutionaries of Vietnam and China is a shining example in the revolutionary struggle of the world proletariat, laying a solid foundation for the friendship between Vietnam and China.
General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully thanked the Party and State of China, the Party Committee and the government of Guangdong province for their attention to preserving and conserving the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Relic Site and the tomb of Martyr Pham Hong Thai, symbols of the traditional friendship, solidarity and close ties between the two Parties, two countries and peoples of Vietnam and China. In a friendly, warm atmosphere filled with comradely and brotherly affection, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam always respect and are grateful for the valuable support and assistance of the Party, State and People of China to the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people in the past, as well as in the cause of national construction and development at present.
General Secretary and President To Lam is confident that every delegate present at this meeting, regardless of who they are or what their position, has a great common wish that the Vietnam-China relationship will be "forever green and everlasting", and will continue to make important contributions to "consolidating a more solid social foundation" as affirmed in the Vietnam-China Joint Statement during the visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in December 2023, promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future.
The activity "General Secretary and President To Lam meets with representatives of Chinese friendship personalities" was jointly organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Guangdong Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou within the framework of the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam.
