Hanoi , September 4, 2024

Dear teachers, administrators, staff in the education sector, students, trainees, and parents!

On the occasion of the opening of the new academic year 2024-2025, I would like to extend my warmest regards and best wishes to all teachers, administrators, and staff who have worked and are currently working in the education sector, as well as to all students, trainees, and parents.

In his letter to students on the first day of school in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh wrote: "Whether the Vietnamese nation will become beautiful and prosperous, and whether the Vietnamese people will reach the pinnacle of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world, depends largely on your studies." The late General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong also emphasized this point during a meeting with outstanding students on November 3, 2018: "Talented people are the lifeblood of the nation; when this lifeblood is strong, the country is strong; when this lifeblood is weak, the country is weak."

The Party and State of Vietnam have always considered education and training as a top national priority and have been implementing policies to prioritize its development. In the 2023-2024 academic year, after 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, Vietnam's education system has made significant progress and achieved many important accomplishments, contributing greatly to raising the intellectual level of the population, developing human resources, and nurturing talent; and making important contributions to the country's socio-economic development and international integration.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I wholeheartedly commend the spirit of emulation and striving of teachers and students nationwide, as well as the efforts, endeavors, and achievements of the entire education sector, and the companionship and support of parents over the past period.

The 2024-2025 school year is the first year of implementing Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW and deploying the new General Education Program in all grades from grade 1 to grade 12. I hope the education sector will focus on effectively implementing the theme set for the school year: "Innovation, quality improvement, unity and discipline."

Education and training should continue to focus on human development and human well-being, maximizing the human factor, placing people at the center, as the subject, resource, and goal of development, creating a foundation for achieving the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization.

With the enthusiasm of the new school year, I believe that students and trainees will strive to study, cultivate themselves, acquire and master knowledge, develop core competencies, and build great aspirations to contribute to building an increasingly prosperous and happy country.

I hope that teachers, administrators, and all workers in the education sector will always be dedicated, passionate about their profession, creative, overcome all difficulties, and contribute even more to their noble cause.

I hope that parents, for the future of their children, will cooperate well with the school, creating a strong bond between the school, family, and society in the field of education. I propose that central ministries and agencies, Party committees, and governments at all levels pay more attention to the cause of education through timely, practical, and correct policies so that teachers and students can teach and learn in a healthy environment with all the necessary conditions to develop their creative abilities and successfully implement the reform of education in our country.

Wishing all teachers, administrators, staff in the education sector, and students and trainees good health, happiness, success, and even greater achievements in the new academic year.

Friendly,

To Lam

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam

President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Over 20 million students nationwide are preparing for the new school year with many important tasks ahead. The education sector faces significant challenges in the coming school year. This also marks the completion of the 2018 General Education Program's implementation cycle, with the final grades being taught.
