General Secretary and President To Lam had brief meetings with the Presidents of Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar and Ghana on the occasion of attending the 19th Francophonie Summit.

Within the framework of the 19th Francophone Summit, at Villers-Cotterêts Castle, France, on the afternoon of October 4 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam had a brief meeting with Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, Madagascar President Andry Nirina Rajoelina and Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.
According to VNA Special Envoy, at the meeting with Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissco Embaló, Party General Secretary and President To Lam once again affirmed that his official visit to Vietnam from September 5-8 created new momentum for Vietnam-Guinea-Bissau relations; he emphasized that he had directed relevant ministries, sectors and agencies of Vietnam to closely coordinate with Guinea-Bissau's partner agencies to effectively implement the results of the visit.
The two leaders once again affirmed their respect for the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Guinea-Bissau; expressed their delight at the active and effective coordination between the two countries at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and La Francophonie.
On this occasion, the President of Guinea-Bissau reiterated his invitation to General Secretary and President To Lam to visit Guinea-Bissau at the earliest possible time.
During the meeting, Madagascar President Andry Nirina Rajoelina recalled good memories of his visit to Vietnam in 2007 and expressed his impression of Ha Long Bay.
The two leaders affirmed the importance of the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Madagascar that has been built and developed over the past 50 years; expressed their determination to strengthen bilateral relations at all levels, channels and in all fields, especially high-level delegation exchanges and cooperation in agriculture.
The President of Madagascar expressed his impression of Vietnam's development achievements and suggested that the two sides explore cooperation opportunities in the agricultural sector, especially rice production cooperation with Vietnam.
At the meeting with Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and Party General Secretary, President To Lam highly appreciated the positive results achieved in the Vietnam-Ghana friendship and cooperation in recent times, especially in the economic field; agreed that the two sides need to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels; promote the implementation of many practical measures to effectively exploit the potential and strengths of each side, for the development and prosperity of both countries./.
