General Secretary and President To Lam attended a meeting to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) organized by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.
On the afternoon of August 15, in Hanoi, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and the 19th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2024).

Attending the meeting were Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang.
Attending the meeting were comrades of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, members of the Party Central Committee; comrades in the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense; comrades in the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security and heads of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, emphasized that after nearly 80 years of building, fighting and growing, under the leadership of the Party, the State and President Ho Chi Minh, the People's Army and the People's Public Security are two forces that are always absolutely loyal to the Party, the State and the people; are the core forces to protect the Fatherland, protect national security, social order and safety, always united, shoulder to shoulder, excellently completing all assigned tasks, contributing to creating a peaceful and stable environment to build and develop a prosperous and happy country.
In the coordination work between the two forces, the coordination relationship between the two forces is increasingly going into depth and substance, such as: coordinating in building and advising the Politburo and the Government to submit to the National Assembly many important legal documents.
The two sides have regularly exchanged information on the world and regional situation; information on preventing and combating transnational crimes, drug crimes, smuggling, and human trafficking; ensuring security and safety for Central conferences and National Assembly sessions; activities of Party and State leaders and international delegations in Vietnam; protecting key targets, projects, political, cultural and social events of the country; coordinating to protect sovereignty over seas and islands; coordinating in directing defense zone drills...
The two sides also coordinate effectively in responding to non-traditional security challenges, especially in preventing and combating natural disasters, epidemics, and disasters, in search and rescue, helping people eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
Those results and the quality of political task implementation in recent times are evidence of the close relationship, solidarity, and high unity in will and action, becoming a tradition and an indispensable factor, contributing to creating the combined strength of the People's Army and the People's Public Security.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang respectfully thanked the attention, leadership and direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the leaders of the Party and State; the close and effective coordination and support of the central ministries, branches and local authorities, including the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security.
General Phan Van Giang also sent the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and all officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security the warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 19th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.
Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Public Security, affirmed that the People's Army and the People's Public Security are two important revolutionary armed forces of the Party, State and people.
Educated and trained by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh; under the leadership of the Party and State, the People's Army and the People's Public Security have always stood shoulder to shoulder, united like "two wings of a bird," joined hands and unanimously overcame all difficulties and hardships, successfully carried out national defense and security tasks, firmly protected the Fatherland, maintained political stability, actively contributed to the cause of innovation, national development and peacekeeping in the region and the world.
The achievements and results of the military and police forces in building and protecting the Fatherland in recent times are due to the regular and close leadership and direction of the Party and State and the strength of solidarity and efforts of the two forces, and the trust, support and help of the people.
On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang expressed his deep gratitude for the attention, leadership and direction of the Party and State leaders; the coordination of the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the functional units of the Ministry of National Defense towards the People's Public Security force and wished to continue to receive attention, leadership, direction, timely and effective assistance and coordination in the work of ensuring security, order and building the People's Public Security force in the coming time./.
