Vietnamese language - the glue that binds the community to its homeland.

On July 20th, at the Vietnam Cultural Center in Paris, France, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Vietnamese Embassy in France, organized a ceremony to honor the Vietnamese language and inaugurated a Vietnamese-language book collection to serve the Vietnamese community in France.

At the beginning of the program, the delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Deeply moved by the large turnout of overseas Vietnamese across four generations, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that the Vietnamese language is not only the soul of the nation, but also a tool and method for preserving feelings and connections with loved ones and the homeland.

She is proud that the Vietnamese language continues to be preserved and enriched through classes held by the Vietnamese community in France over many generations.

The Deputy Minister shared touching stories about "people's teachers" who teach Vietnamese to second, third, and fourth-generation children in classrooms with difficult conditions in many parts of the world.

The Deputy Minister also stated that the ceremony not only aimed to honor the Vietnamese language but also served as an opportunity to express gratitude to organizations and individuals, teachers, parents, and students who, with their dedication and love for the Vietnamese language and culture, have helped to spread the Vietnamese language further.

According to Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang, the event honoring the Vietnamese language and the inauguration of the Vietnamese language library serving the Vietnamese community in France is an important activity aimed at maintaining and developing the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese within the Vietnamese community in France.

The Ambassador affirmed that supporting, accompanying, and encouraging the community to maintain their cultural identity and preserve the Vietnamese language is one of the embassy's key priorities. He hoped that the Vietnamese community in France, proud to be one of the first overseas communities founded by President Ho Chi Minh, would become even more united and continue to strongly promote the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese – the glue that binds the community to its homeland.

The Ambassador also expressed confidence that the diverse activities of the Project to Honor the Vietnamese Language in Overseas Vietnamese Communities will be actively implemented by relevant agencies both domestically and internationally, making a significant contribution to promoting the teaching and learning of the Vietnamese language abroad.
