On April 23, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor outstanding individuals in the cause of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City (1975-2025), on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Of the 60 individuals honored, 13 were in the fields of politics and state management; 12 in the fields of social activities; 11 in the fields of education and training, health, science and technology; 10 in the fields of culture, arts and press and communication; 5 in the fields of economics; 4 in the fields of national defense and security; and 5 in the fields of ethnicity and religion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that in 50 years of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City, there are many creative and outstanding solutions that have left their mark in various fields such as: Creativity in every step, every pioneering decision to implement the plan to restore industrial production, restore the economy, becoming the theoretical premise for building the "Renovation policy" in 1986; or the policy to encourage businesses to apply market mechanisms; transforming the ineffective city trading cooperative system into the City Trade Cooperative Union that operates to this day.
On that development path, there are very important contributions of 60 outstanding individuals honored today. Although coming from many different roles and positions, some from the resistance war for independence and national reunification, continue to participate in government work, management work; some are scientific, social, medical, educational researchers; outstanding individuals in the arts... but all carry within them a passionate love for their homeland and country, with high determination and burning desire, ready to contribute to the cause of building and developing the city, "for the whole country, with the whole country" to realize the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization.
The typical individuals honored today are those with pure moral qualities, high prestige, great influence in political, economic, cultural, social, national defense and security life, with many outstanding contributions in all areas of the city's social life, leaving many strong marks in the process of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City from 1975 to present, introduced by former city leaders and veteran comrades, through strict selection steps, following the correct procedure; in which, there is the attention and unity of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and especially the consensus and support of the majority of people of all walks of life in the city.
Notable among them are: Nguyen Van Linh (1915-1998), former General Secretary, former Secretary of the Central Office for Southern Vietnam, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Truong Tan Sang, former member of the Politburo, former President, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Minh Triet, former member of the Politburo, former President, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee... (political and state management fields).
In the field of social activities, there are former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President Truong My Hoa; Lawyer Truong Thi Hoa (Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association)...
