Honoring 60 outstanding individuals in 50 years of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City

(PLVN) - On April 23, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor 60 outstanding individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions to the community and society in various sectors and fields during the 50-year journey of building, protecting, and developing Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that the 60 individuals honored are shining examples, possessing noble qualities of morality, intelligence, courage and social responsibility. They are people who have lived, worked and devoted themselves tirelessly, regardless of their starting point or field of activity, all carrying within them the flame of patriotism and the aspiration to serve their homeland and country. Their presence on the honor list is a vivid testament to Ho Chi Minh City's journey of continuous improvement over the past half century.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee also affirmed that each individual is a living symbol of courage, personality and dedication. They are people who not only achieve success in their fields, but also spread good values to the community, inspiring the younger generation to continue the journey of building and protecting the city. "They are the driving force and inspiration to continue writing a new chapter for Ho Chi Minh City in the journey of integration and development", Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized.

Speaking on behalf of the 60 individuals honored, researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu – who is 105 years old this year – expressed his emotion, pride and humility. He considered this recognition not only for himself, but also for thousands of others who have, are and will continue to silently contribute to the development of the city. “Although I am old, I still want to continue to accompany my beloved city to the best of my ability,” he said emotionally.

In this honor list, there are 31 deceased people, people who have left a deep mark in many important areas of the city. Names such as Nguyen Van Linh, Vo Van Kiet, Pham Hung, Nguyen Huu Tho… recall a heroic period, in which they were the ones who contributed to creating the identity and proud image of Ho Chi Minh City today.

The individuals honored this time represent 7 fields: from politics , state management, to education - health, culture - arts, press - media, economy, national defense - security, social activities, religion - ethnicity... They are clear evidence of the spirit of great national unity, of the resonance between generations, professions, regions in a common goal: serving and developing Ho Chi Minh City.
