'Devil's Nest' Church of God the Mother - Evil organization.
One Sunday in early December 2022, a VTC News reporter received a strange phone call. The young girl's voice, as if asking for help, caught my attention. After probing and knowing that I was indeed the person who wrote about the Church of God in 2018, she began to tell me about herself, about the days she lived in hell on earth because of the evil cult that borrowed the name of the Church of God right in the heart of the capital, causing her to become physically and mentally disabled, living like she was dead, and attempting suicide many times.
The last time, when she was about to jump from the 8th floor of an apartment building, the girl suddenly woke up. “Whether I die or not, before I die, I have to find out what this Church is like. I will find out again before making a decision,” the girl firmly stated. It took her a long time to find herself again, to find her reason and strength from the love, protection, shelter, and care from her parents and from people with conscience.
The girl also regularly contacted me, providing information, documents, and authentic evidence about this cult. Our group of reporters began planning to "expose" the cult that used the name of the Church of God.
However, for a long time, every time we made an appointment, the girl made up an excuse to decline. Then one day in early January 2023, she proactively called me and invited me to Hanoi to meet a former group leader and some other "Saints" who had just escaped from the evil organization.
At the meeting, the girl - the wife of a District Chief and the former Group Leader - provided all the information, documents, and images they had collected during their time participating in the cult. But when I expressed my intention to infiltrate this Church, they all waved their hands and warned: "If you want to infiltrate, think carefully, or you will lose people."
“Why?” , I asked.
“Because they will use brainwashing tricks on your reporters, not any magic spells or drugs,” the former team leader warned.
That very night, I wrote a report, planned my work, and asked for the Editorial Board's opinion. In the report, I also clearly stated the girl's warning. After being approved and directed by the Editorial Board, our group of reporters took turns meeting the victims, the living witnesses who escaped from the heretical cult that borrowed the name of the Church of God in Hanoi. Each character was a life story, a pain that we wondered, when would they be able to escape the haunting of the years they buried their youth, buried their ambitions, and dreams in the "hell on earth" of the heretical cult?
From the information, documents and sharing we have collected, we confirm that this is a cult, with a series of psychological manipulation techniques to seduce, charm and threaten the spirit of the weak-hearted and ignorant. The ultimate purpose of all their actions is to use rituals and worship ceremonies for the "Saints" to offer money to this association, so that those from the group leader level up to the deacon and general president can indulge in pleasure and entertainment.
In the following days, through relationships, we approached a "Saint" who was participating in Cau Giay district (Hanoi), asking for this person's help to infiltrate the Association.
However, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, then a whole month passed. We sent a series of calls and messages without any response. Suddenly, at nearly 12 o'clock at night on March 22, 2023, I received a message from a stranger with the content: "I just left the Church, after Ms. Mai (character's name has been changed - PV) shared with me some truths behind that I did not know. I still have a Telegram account and have many evangelistic documents of the Church, and have also been to many meeting points to attend their services. If you need it, I will send it and help you infiltrate this church."
I was as happy as if I had won the lottery, because immediately after that, this female "Saint" sent me a series of related information and documents, and at the same time made an appointment for us to meet in Hanoi to discuss how to infiltrate the Church.
One afternoon in early April 2023, in Hanoi, in the role of a freelancer who likes to sit alone in a book cafe, the female reporter in our group got to know a pretty 9x female "Saint" who was looking for people with an introverted tendency to spread a document called the Bible, gradually attracting them to become "Saints" of the Church. We had a 2-hour conversation with the content of the spiritual world, science and especially the universal secret book in life called the Bible.
After that session of opening the heart, it seemed that the missionary girl saw that the reporter had faith and wanted to see the golden book of the Bible, so she agreed to let the reporter meet Ms. Lien - who was vaguely introduced as having a position in the Church.
Since the first meeting with the dignitaries and "Saints" in this cult, VTC News reporters have participated in 10 Bible study sessions via Zoom with members of the association, with both studying and "testing old lessons", creating strong trust in the "Saints" who led as well as the "Prophet".
One evening after the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the reporter attended a Baptism ceremony at an apartment building in Ha Dong district (Hanoi). Baptism is a first aid, a spiritual emergency and the Church needs to provide first aid as soon as possible, without delay, without prolonging the time to receive salvation.
After a deacon who was a “Prophet” read the prayers, 10 buckets of water were poured on her head, and she listened to the deacon’s prayers in the “den” of the cult, the female reporter of VTC News became a “Saint” of the Church of God. In the following days, the reporter continued to participate in the Passover, the seventh-day Sabbath worship service as instructed by the person in charge of this cult.
Through the process of role-playing, practicing rituals, and collecting documents and evidence, we confirm that this is an evil cult that has been operating under the name of the Church of God for many years in the heart of Hanoi.
After nearly 6 months of investigation, on May 20, 2023, the VTC News reporter team coordinated with the Ha Dong District Police (Hanoi) and the professional units of the Hanoi City Police, the People's Committee of Ha Dong District, the People's Committee of Duong Noi Ward, and the Duong Noi Ward Police to conduct an administrative inspection and caught the group of female "Saints" red-handed illegally conducting religious activities under the name of the Church of God.
Specifically, at around 3:30 p.m. on May 20, the authorities suddenly inspected a room on the 6th floor of a hotel on Le Trong Tan Street, Duong Noi Ward (Ha Dong, Hanoi). At the time of the inspection, there were 5 women in the room illegally practicing religion, their heads covered with scarves. The computer screen displayed illegal religious propaganda materials. On the table were offerings and some other items. The authorities made a record, asking these people to go to the Duong Noi Ward Police Station to take statements and write a report of the incident, as a basis for handling.
This is the initial result after 6 months of VTC News reporters investigating and infiltrating a cult group that uses the name of the Church of God to operate in many locations right in the heart of Hanoi.
A police officer from Ha Dong District (Hanoi) said that after the press exposed the cult in 2018, it had calmed down. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, along with the strong development of information technology, these groups switched to illegal activities by communicating, meeting, and sharing with each other through platforms on the internet, making it even more difficult for authorities to detect and handle the matter.
These people use many tricks to entice, entice, threaten, and mentally terrorize their target. In essence, they let the money from the “Saints” pay tribute through offerings flow into the pockets of those in positions of authority, self-proclaimed “Prophets”.
