" Winning the championship in my first time participating in the tournament is a joy and happiness for me. I have played many times at this golf course and found it to be a challenging course with difficult terrain. I am satisfied but believe that I can achieve better results. I scored 8 birdies but had double bogey at hole 15 and bogey at hole 17 ," Nguyen Duc Son shared.
Nguyen Duc Son is the champion of the Tien Phong Golf Championship 2023. This is the 7th year the tournament has been held and takes place at the Kings Course golf course at BRG King's Island Golf Resort (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi).

Nguyen Duc Son is one of two golfers to win the championship with a negative score. This athlete won -3 after 69 strokes, achieving the second best result in the history of the tournament, after Nguyen Anh Minh (champion of the 2022 season, with 64 strokes and a score of -8).
Since the tournament's inception, 6 out of 7 champions were born in 2000 or later. These golfers include Nguyen Vu Quoc Anh (born in 2003), Nguyen Nhat Long (born in 2003), Nguyen Bao Long (born in 2005), Nguyen Anh Minh (born in 2007 - two-time champion) and now Nguyen Duc Son (born in 2007).
This year, the tournament has 160 athletes participating in both amateur and professional male and female categories.
Golfers are divided into groups according to Handicap. The tournament consists of 5 groups (A, B, C for men, D for women and a young talent group with 4 flies for young golfers). Men use yellow tee, women use pink tee.
The organizers awarded hole in one (HIO) prizes at holes 6, 14 and 17 worth nearly 7 billion VND, including 3 SUVs from the sponsor. However, no golfer has achieved it yet.
" Over 7 seasons, Tien Phong Golf Championship has always innovated and improved to become the most anticipated tournament of the year. The tournament has a youth group that other amateur tournaments almost do not have. That creates opportunities for young golfers to compete and improve their skills ," said Mr. Nguyen Thai Duong - Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Golf Association.
