- Hello! First of all, thank you for taking the time to meet us today. Could you introduce yourself to Quang Tri Newspaper readers?
-My name is Dao Minh Tien, a content creator still known to everyone as “The Travels of a Cricket”. I currently live and work in Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province. In addition, I am also studying for a master's degree in Vietnamese history at Da Lat University.
- Building a tiktok channel with more than 240 thousand followers and 4.8 million likes is quite impressive. So, what brought you to the job of content creation?
-In 2013, I passed the entrance exam to the Logistics Academy and was retained to work at the school after 5 years of study. Living and working in a military environment, I was educated a lot about patriotism and national pride; learned a lot about national cultural knowledge, visited museums and historical sites; listened to teachers talk about the great and glorious battles of the nation. The desire to one day be present at those places to listen, observe and experience grew in me without me realizing it.
During the summer vacation, I visited different places across the country and tried to use my phone to record videos throughout the journey and then figured out how to cut, edit, and edit the videos myself. After posting them on social media, the clips received compliments from many people. Those first steps opened up a new path, and then in 2021, I decided to quit my job and switch to being a content creator. Although I encountered many difficulties and pressures at first, the results I have achieved so far show that my choice was completely correct. I am happy to be able to live fully with my passion and bring good values to myself, my family, and society. The job of a content creator gives me the opportunity to meet many people, to hear many simple, authentic stories of the people where I set foot to learn and grow every day. That makes me love the country and people of Vietnam even more. Among the many lands I have been to, Quang Tri is the place that impresses me and leaves me with a lot of affection.
- So how is Quang Tri in your mind?
-Quang Tri is a place that reminds me that today's peace was exchanged for the blood and bones of previous generations. Therefore, we need to live in a way that is worthy of that noble sacrifice; constantly strive to live and contribute, building the future of the country to develop more and more. Up to now, I have been to Quang Tri 3 times, producing about 12 clips introducing viewers to the historical sites and relics here such as: Hien Luong - Ben Hai historical relic; Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery; Bo De School; Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; Climbing Cape...

Coming to Quang Tri, what I like most is the feeling of driving on the road, watching the green rice fields stretching far and wide, fully enjoying the sunshine, the wind and the peaceful feeling here. Quang Tri people are very friendly and sincere, they are ready to help when I need it. Especially, under the clips talking about Quang Tri, I always feel the pride of the homeland of Quang Tri people when receiving interactions and deep thanks from everyone for sharing and spreading good images of their homeland everywhere.
- It is known that you have returned to Quang Tri once again to make meaningful clips to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. To make such clips, how much time and effort do you have to invest?
-Before a great historical event of the nation such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, I thought I had to do something to contribute to spreading good values and arousing pride in every Vietnamese person. And Hien Luong Bridge, where the Vietnamese people spent 21 years to connect the two regions of the South and the North, was the first thing I thought of. The process of coming up with the idea until arriving in Quang Tri happened very quickly, but fortunately in the short time of making these clips, I met many interesting characters. They were smart, mischievous children on Hien Luong Bridge; veterans; old men who sewed border flags for many years... Each character is a story, the embodiment of the present, the past and the future. Here, I once again held the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam and ran on Hien Luong Bridge. Through my clips, I want to convey the message of love for the national flag, for the homeland, the country and respect for peace. Perhaps for that reason, the clip production went quite smoothly, the filming and editing were done continuously, tirelessly.
- Can you reveal your plans and intentions for the future?
- In addition to creating content in the form of videos, I am currently working hard to publish my first book. It includes the experiences that I have gathered through each trip. At the same time, I will try to complete my studies well to gain more useful knowledge to support my daily work. So that in the future, I can participate in teaching, inspiring students about love for history, homeland, and country. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, I am implementing the project "Holding the national flag from Quang Tri to Ho Chi Minh City". For me, holding the flag fluttering at the places I visit will make the video more emotional, it is also a way for me to show my respect for that land. Especially expressing the spirit of national pride in the most specific way for myself.
I love Quang Tri, so I will visit this land as soon as possible. Previously, I had the opportunity to cooperate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of some localities in propaganda and promotion work. Therefore, I really hope that I will have the opportunity to cooperate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri to spread more strongly the image, people and heroic historical stories of this land.
Thank you!
