On August 7, in Jakarta, Indonesia, the 44th AIPA General Assembly with the theme: "Proactively adapting parliaments for a stable and prosperous ASEAN" officially opened with the participation of leaders of the National Assembly and Parliaments of AIPA member countries.
On behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong sent a message to the 44th AIPA General Assembly. The following is the full text of the message.

To: Ms. Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, President of the 44th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44)
On behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to the President of AIPA-44, the Presidents of the National Assemblies, Heads of Delegations of AIPA Member Parliaments and distinguished delegates attending the AIPA-44 General Assembly organized by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia in the beautiful capital city of Jakarta.
Through 44 General Assemblies, AIPA has grown and made practical contributions to regional processes. These are very proud and valuable contributions to the process of building a united and united ASEAN Community, bringing benefits to the people and nations.
The theme of the 44th AIPA General Assembly “Responsive Parliaments for a Stable and Prosperous ASEAN” combined with the theme of ASEAN in 2023 “One ASEAN in Stature: The Heart of Growth” reflects our common aspiration for sustainable development in a peaceful and stable regional environment.
Over the past half century, ASEAN has gone through many storms and overcome many challenges to become a united and strong organization with an increasingly high role, image and position in the region and in the international arena. AIPA and the support of the Parliaments of the member countries have always been an asset and a great source of encouragement for the efforts of the Governments of ASEAN countries.

New opportunities always come with new challenges. ASEAN and AIPA, the core of integration, dialogue and cooperation, need to be the heart, the mind and also the driving force for development. That is the message we send to the people and businesses in the region. Hopefully, with support from AIPA, ASEAN will succeed in promoting multilateralism, the rule of law, and actively contribute to peace, security, stability and sustainable prosperous development of the region and the world.
On this occasion, I affirm that Vietnam is committed to continuing to participate actively and effectively with high responsibility in all forums. I believe that under the wise chairmanship of the Chairwoman, the close cooperation of all of you and the careful preparation of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, the 44th AIPA General Assembly will be a great success.
