- Dear uncles, aunts, and those who directly served Uncle Ho,
- Dear all comrades present at today's meeting,
Today, in the atmosphere of the historic August days, in the pride of celebrating the 79th anniversary of Uncle Ho reading the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, I am very happy to meet you, uncles, aunts, and those who were honored to serve Uncle Ho during the time he lived and worked at the Presidential Palace from 1954 until his last moments on September 2, 1969, along with generations of cadres of the Relic Site who have made efforts and determination to preserve, maintain, and promote his legacy at the Presidential Palace in the past years. As Vietnamese people, we are truly happy and proud to have Uncle Ho, the great leader - National Liberation Hero, Outstanding Cultural Man, World Cultural Celebrity, and also a shining example of revolutionary morality, simple and modest style, and passionate patriotism and love for the People.
You, uncles, aunts, and aunties, are more honored and proud than anyone else because you were the ones who were close to Uncle Ho day and night, the bodyguards who protected him day and night, the close helpers who took care of his meals, sleep, house, garden, and fish pond, the nurses and doctors who wholeheartedly took care of his health when he was seriously ill, not only with medical ethics but also with the infinite love and gratitude of a child towards his Father. Many touching memories have been recorded of you, uncles, aunts, and aunties being kindly advised by Uncle Ho, receiving gifts from Uncle Ho when you went abroad on business trips; having the honor of watching movies with him every Saturday night at the Presidential Palace Guest House; having a year-end meal and taking photos together when Tet came and spring returned; Being "children" by the Father of the nation's side in his final moments like a blood relative in the family,... Later, in different positions, remembering Uncle Ho's teachings, the uncles, aunts, and men all shared the same precious qualities: Dedication to work, loyalty to revolutionary ideals, living with affection and loyalty to comrades and teammates... The memories of the years living close to Uncle Ho, protecting and serving him were a great source of encouragement for the uncles, aunts, and men. Those emotional moments will certainly remain forever in each person's life and will always have the power to spread and touch every heart forever.
The Presidential Palace Relic Site is where Uncle Ho lived and worked for 15 years (1954 - 1969) - the longest period of time Uncle Ho "stopped" in his revolutionary career and also the place where the heart of the great communist stopped beating to return to his ancestors, to "Uncle Karl Marx, Uncle Lenin and other revolutionary seniors". During the 15 years of living and working at the Presidential Palace Relic Site, Uncle Ho and the Party Central Committee set out the correct path for the Vietnamese revolution, simultaneously carrying out two tasks: Leading the North to socialism and fighting for national reunification. He had many diplomatic activities promoting international solidarity, gaining support from friends around the world, fighting for national liberation and national reunification. At the Presidential Palace Relic Site, every house, corner of the garden, row of trees, fish pond, and utensils are deeply imprinted with the image of beloved Uncle Ho.
Immediately after Uncle Ho passed away, a complex of historical relics of special value and significance to him was formed in the Presidential Palace. The cadres of "Office 41" of the Office of the President, where Uncle Ho lived and worked for the last 15 years of his life, volunteered to stay, and a number of cadres and soldiers from K10, the Ministry of Public Security, who had participated in protecting Uncle Ho during his lifetime, were assigned to work at the relic site. It can be said that this was the first force to carry out the initial tasks of the Presidential Palace relic site. The cadres of Uncle Ho's agency and later the Uncle Ho relic site at the Presidential Palace strived every day to both work and study to preserve and maintain "Uncle Ho's House" with sacred feelings and profound educational significance in many aspects so that people and friends from all over the world, when visiting and studying, would still see Uncle Ho's image somewhere. Uncle Ho's house and the roads he traveled were looked after and cleaned. The door is still open, the clock is still running, the furniture in the house is still neatly arranged to welcome domestic and international delegations to visit his residence and workplace every day. We are proud and feel that Uncle Ho is still there when he has merged with the country, urging the struggle and the aspiration for greatness of the Vietnamese people:
"Uncle, please give us your love.
A life of purity, no gold or silver
Fragile cloth, infinite soul
More than bronze statues exposed to the trails"
Continuing the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree", our Party and State always respect and are grateful for the contributions of the uncles, aunts, and brothers who directly served, cared for, and protected Uncle Ho during his lifetime and preserved, maintained, and promoted his legacy at the Presidential Palace in the best possible way. With sincere and emotional feelings, we feel more deeply one thing: Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh has become an inseparable symbol; and the special national relic site of President Ho Chi Minh at the Presidential Palace is an indispensable and important part, making that symbol even more vivid and familiar.
I once talked to the cadres and staff of the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace: Every time I come to offer incense to commemorate Uncle Ho, I have very special emotions. Stories about Uncle Ho can never be told enough. Every time we come to Uncle Ho, we learn a new lesson. Everything about Uncle Ho is very simple and great. A great soul in a small house, we always remember his contributions.
55 years after Uncle Ho passed away, the legacy he left for our nation and our Party is a treasure trove of precious ideological heritage and priceless spiritual heritage in many fields. Today, we continue to research, study and constantly innovate to follow his Testament, continuing to affirm the steadfast belief of our entire Party, army and people in preserving and promoting the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as preserving and promoting the value of his Relic Site at the Presidential Palace. The silent, dedicated and responsible contributions of the collective of cadres and workers of the Relic Site through the ages, with many important milestones, are the honor and pride of continuing the tradition of the cadres of Uncle Ho's agency.
On behalf of the Party and the State, I acknowledge and commend the merits and contributions of generations of uncles, aunts, and aunties who served President Ho Chi Minh in the Presidential Palace during the period 1954 - 1969. I wish you, uncles, aunties, and leaders of the Relic Site through the ages and your families good health, peace, and happiness, and to continue to pass on and educate the tradition of solidarity and patriotism to your children, grandchildren, and generations of Vietnamese people, as well as international friends.
Wishing the staff of the Ho Chi Minh President Relic Site at the Presidential Palace to always be united, unified, creative, and perform their tasks well, affirming the position of the Ho Chi Minh President Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, Hanoi Capital as a place where the sacred soul of the mountains and rivers, the quintessence of the nation converge, where Uncle Ho lives forever with the mountains and rivers, with the cause of building and protecting our beloved socialist Vietnam Fatherland.
