The whole army thoroughly grasps the book "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity"

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense chaired the Conference. Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee, members of the Central Military Commission: Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

The conference was held in person at the Ministry of National Defense's Conference Hall and online at 52 locations, attracting 6,500 delegates representing leaders and commanders of agencies and units throughout the army.

At the Conference, Associate Professor-PhD Vu Trong Lam, Director, Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth, introduced the process of collecting documents and publishing the book from March 2023 and completing it, launching it on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024). Colonel, Professor-PhD Dinh Xuan Dung, former member of the Central Council of Theory and Vice Chairman of the Central Council for Criticism of Literature and Art Theory, introduced some basic contents of the book.

The book "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" consists of 928 pages, selecting 92 articles, speeches, talks, notes, interviews, letters... by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on building and developing Vietnamese culture, in which the earliest article is from 1968.

The content of the speeches and articles shows the General Secretary's deep concern for building, preserving and developing Vietnamese culture with traditional and modern elements, identity and integration; creating endogenous resources, mobilizing the strength of Vietnamese culture and people in the cause of building and developing a prosperous and happy country.

The book consists of three parts. The first part, "Culture is the soul of the nation", includes 19 speeches and articles by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party; the Central Executive Committee Conference, the National Conference on Ideological and Cultural Work, the National Propaganda Conference... With convincing arguments and vivid evidence, the General Secretary specifically explained the connotation of the concept of building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity; analyzed the role and especially important position of culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; the goals, tasks, and orientations for solutions to fully and comprehensively promote cultural values.

The second part of the book: "Comprehensive and synchronous development so that culture is truly an endogenous strength and a driving force for sustainable national development", selects 73 speeches, articles and letters of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on cultural fields as well as the process of building and developing cultural agencies. With rich practice, sharp theoretical thinking, and a deep understanding of the characteristics of each type of culture, he has given comprehensive instructions to the fields of literature, arts; education, training; science, technology; press, publishing...

In the third part "From General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's cultural thesis to real life", readers have access to 32 articles and interviews with cadres, party members and people in researching, studying and implementing, concretizing the Party's policies and guidelines, and the guidance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference, associated with building a national value system, a cultural value system, a family value system and standards for Vietnamese people.

In addition, the book also includes more than 90 precious documentary photos, recording images of the General Secretary in cultural activities, cultural conferences; visits and working trips with localities; working sessions with agencies and units in the cultural sector; meetings with artists and intellectuals across the country.

The conference widely disseminated the basic contents of the book to the entire army, helping cadres, party members and the masses, especially cadres at all levels, grasp the basic and core contents of the book. Raising systematic awareness of the leadership and direction of the Party, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, on building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity, contributing to promoting cultural values ​​and the strength of the Vietnamese people, strongly arousing patriotism, national pride and self-respect, and the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

Through research and study, agencies and units promptly concretize and creatively apply the book's content to practical conditions, assigned functions and tasks. After the Conference, Party committees and commanders at all levels continued to lead and direct the dissemination and extensive study to cadres, party members and the masses in the Party Committee of the Army and the entire army in rich, diverse, creative and effective forms, associated with the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system, and important political events of the country, the Army, agencies and units.
