This morning, August 27, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced that it had just received the results of the Hanoi student delegation's participation in the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in Brazil. Accordingly, the delegation of 5 students, all students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, had won medals, including 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.

The two students who won silver medals were Nguyen Ba Linh and Nguyen Xuan Hoang; the remaining three members who won bronze medals were Nguyen Thi Thu Minh, Luu Quang Minh and Dam Ngoc Bao Lam.
This is the first time that 100% of Vietnamese delegation members participating in the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad have won medals.
Hanoi students will represent Vietnam at the 2024 International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in Brazil from August 17 to 27. This year's competition will attract nearly 300 students from 53 countries and territories. This is the 8th time Vietnam has participated in this competition.
Students must take part in 3 exams, including: theory (5 hours); data processing exam (3 hours); day and night observation exam with a total time of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics has been held 17 times. The Hanoi student team, representing Vietnamese students, has participated in this competition since 2016 and won a silver medal in the first competition. Authorized by the Ministry of Education and Training to participate in the competition in the following years, the Hanoi student team has continuously achieved high results, affirming Vietnam's position.
